Hi. My first post. Great to see so many people discussing BMW and sharing many stories. Even better to see fellow country men/women. (Canada)

My friend owns a Acura RSX-Type S 6 speed. I have driven it many times. It feels very fast. I have another friend that owns a 1992 Alfa Romeo 164S. This car has no limiter. I've been in the car with 4 others at speed excess of 250+KM. (on Hwy 400) several years ago back in our early days. This car does not stop picking up speed.

All the boys from the past met up this weekend. At the end of the night we decided to race all the cars, bringing back some old memories when we would race our old rices behind factories and them meet up at the coffee shop to discuss.

Here is what happened. In first place - ME! ('02 325i SP 5 speed), RSX-Type S in second place and Alfa dead last, I mean far behind. I was very suprised to see these results. I think we all were.
My buddy with the RSX-S did not beleive. We races 3 other times. Hes lost every race. All got killed off the line. I would say we raced until 120KM. 0 - 100km was too easy for me.

Here is what I did. Held down the DSC button and turned all off. Before that I reset the throttle. (turn ignition slightly for 10 sec. turn off for 10 and restart)

Rev'd to 3000 RPM, and poped the clutch. I had a great launch every time. Just for the record, both drivers are excellent with manual trans. I know. I've known them for approx. 10 - 15 years.

Can you explain? RSX-S 0-100KM = 6.2 my car 7.1.

That's my first post. Hope you enjoy. Take care! *wave*

Hey beegee... awesome story. I learned not to underestimate the RSX-S!! ... I'm surprised your 325i beat the RSX-S actually... not sure how to explain it except perhaps you're simply a better driver... or his car isn't tuned properly.. maybe he had some wheel spin?

Yea, I'm surprised too after reading the long thread in the "need for speed" section how people are comparing the 330 to the RSX type-s and saying they are very close let alone the 325i

I do believe both vehicles had wheel spin off the line - front wheel drive. The RSX-S chirps in 3rd gear - I think due to bad traction form the standard Michelin tires and weight distribution. Again a complete suprise.

Regardless, I bought the vehicle for overall performance, comfort, luxury.

You guys understand his post??????

*RSX-S 0-100KM = 6.2 my car 7.1*

I thought he said RSX-S did 0-100KM in 6.2, and his BMW 325 did it in 7.1.?

Then, he says he won the accelertion races, and others are congratulating him on *kills*.

I'm confused.
Can someone explain this to me?
I know it's Monday, but I'm still totally baffled here.

Further, the Alfa is built for mid-range to top speed, not for drag racing. That's why, as he says, it goes as fast as 250+ km/h.
Neither the BMW nor the Acura can go that fast.

Not sure I understand your post Estoril M3. It's Monday. I'll explain in greater detail.

Approx. 0 - 100km numbers for the RSX-S vs 325i is 6.3 vs 7.1. An average based on info. from leading trade pubs etc. I'll let the experts comment on this. I'm not interested in a debate.

I won the "acceleration" races - 3 times in a row. For all
325i SP drivers wondering if this is possible - it is.

Regardless of horsepower, "mid-range top speed", weight etc.
the 325i SP was the clear winner in this test. (& to my suprise)

Don't let the RSX Type S scare you 0 - 100KM. You will win. Again comparing stock vehicles.

Maybe I'll take on a Estoril M3 next time. (Joke)

Lemme re-phrase it, *....RSX-S vs. 325i is 7.1 vs. 6.3...*
Right? You're trying to say that the BMW is faster, correct?

If so, that's mighty surprising, because BMW of Canada quotes the 0-100km/h as 7.6 seconds (manual tranny).
You did 6.3? How do you account for a difference of nearly 1.5 seconds?
Did you throw yours off the cliff?

You telling the truth?

*...I'm not interested in a debate...*

:) :P

Yes we, at least I, understood his post.

He knew (read it from some car publication) that ---> "RSX-S 0-100KM = 6.2; 325 0-100km = 7.1"

He's reporting to us with glee that he (in his 325) repeatedly thrashed the RSX-S despite the above numbers.

kapish?!
