You can always spend $200 or so at a paint shop and get the moldings painted body color...

LOL no about $200 should cover it. I know a few people that have had it done. Personally I like the black molding, but maybe that is because I have a black car!

e36 M3 is your best bet for that kinda money, it will give you more power than an E46 330i. Always take the M. :)

Yeah but lots of people want an E46 and something thats more reliable ...

If you go with a 97 M3 you never know how someone drove that thing + insurance will be high + dated look...

I had the same decision to make but with a slightly higher budget of about $5000 more. After about 10 months of waiting for the perfect car to pop up, I was stuck in between a few 01/02 325Ci's and a 96 ///M3 with 60,000 km's on it, all service records, never a mechanical problem, 100% mint. Let's just say that "M" is a very powerful and persuading letter. I don't regret it for a second.

Remember that even though the E46 is newer, the E36 is know to be a more solid/reliable car and if you find one that has been cared for properly with all maintenance records, you'll be in just as good or better shape than going after an E46 3'er.

i made the same decision...

i was comtemplating a 01 325ci vs an E36 M3.

I went with the M and have not regretted my decision one bit..its all about the M power.
