That car is insane.

500 HP & torque, with a S/C.

Stock, smokes a Modenna in almost all performance numbers.

Won't be long before someone comes out with a pulley, tune and some bolt-ons to get those power numbers up by 30%........:P
Give something for the Enzo driver to check their rear view mirror for.

im kinda dissapointed that they didnt at least make it a little different from the original i mean it`s a carbon copy, not that its not nice to look at but still.

I can't wait to see one. The only mistake Ford made was pricing it at 200k+.

However, you can't argue with 550 hp and similar torque.

Jeremy Clarkson said its one of the best all around sports cars in existence!

Yup.
I agree that it's too bad it's so expensive.

My Z06 would be for sale if they kept the price around a Viper......*mumble*

I think Jeremy bought one, didn't he?

I posted this vid in another post, but may be worth posting agian.

Top Gear's test drive with a production GT40, a different one form the first test drive with a pre-production model.

Why mess with some thing that sexy? The only difference between the original and the new one is size. The new one is alot bigger.

The reason the price tag is so high is because it will be a really low production car compaired to the Viper. So don't expect to see many of them on the streets.

If they priced these things in the low 100G's, they'd sell a sh*t load of them.
It's basically a 5.4 Triton engine from they're pickups with a S/C from the Cobra/Lightning. Let's face it, it's not an expensive high reving engine like the one in a BMW M car or a Ferrari.......

I would like to know exactly what they did to that engine but I doubt they just slapped on a SC to get those numbers.

The supercharged 5.4-liter V8 is a highly modified version of the engine powering many of Ford's trucks and SUVs. The supercharger gives it over 500 horsepower and the kind of torque most V12s can only dream about.

Go down to Yorkdale in Toronto and sit there for an hour and count how many Porsche's, Ferrari's, and Lambo's. I think that this car will never be in the maXbimmer sightings.

The allotment won't be large; in fact, many dealers will never see a GT except in photographs. Less than half will receive one unit for the entire 2005 production run, and a tiny fraction will receive two or more. Total first-year production is slated for between 1,000 and 1,500 units, which explains why most of the 3,500 Ford dealers in the U.S. will never get one in their showroom.

While the new concept and the original both share the mystique of the GT40 name, they share not a single dimension. The concept is more than a foot and a half longer and stands nearly four inches taller

I think this is going to be a little bit better than your standard Ford Escort.

BTW isn't Audi owned by VW? Don't get me wrong I love Audi's (S4---> *love* )

acutally its 4 inchs taller than the orginal thats why they called it the ford gt and not gt 40. They orginal car was called the gt40 cause it was 40 inchs tall. They played with the idea of callin it the gt44 but then came to the conculsion that the ford gt would be the name

The Ford GT is awsome. TH epricing is fine where it is. Its still cheaper than a Modena and the Gallardo. I would take teh GT over both of them.

Audi is not owned by VW. They are in a partnership. Audi owns Lambo, and VW has no say whatsoever with lambo, because only Audi owns them. And vicew versa. Theyre still their own.

BTW, saying something like "its still a Ford" is soooo stupid. Sure its a Ford. Ford generally sucks.
Fortunetly, ure not buying the company. Ure buying one specific car, which happens to be better than 90% of the good brands lineups!

Your almost right. I guess a group owns all the companies....

I sort of agree with you, but not at the same time, especially when you see a lot of parts that have both the Audi and VW logo's on them, and the chassis' are shared between the two brands. I'd say the relationship between VW and Audi is more of a more then just friends type thing, where VW and Lambo are just aquatences.

I see the same thing with Ford and Mazda, they share practically everything minus body panels and interiors, but the Jaguar is still a distant relative.

Also, I thought the SC going into the GT40 was different then the one on the Lightning?

today i saw this demonstration by land rover, they had a free lander and a range rover, and they had set up this amazingf little course out of dirt, and they had to go up this 60 degree hill with a whole in it, and only one wheel had traction, the back right, and the freelander had to pick up a bit of speed coming into it, but the range rover tackled it like nothing and went slowly up to it and it didn't struggle a single bit it was amazing!!! and then there were these little little hills like 5 or 6 feet high or so and they went sideways over them and the car was up on two wheels balancing as it was over this little bump and then the other side came down, as the wheel was like 3 feet into the air or more and you thought it was going to flip and it didn't, the first time i saw the freelander i thoguht it was going to flip over and everyone was like woaaaaaaah and they didn't even have special tires. It was awesome!!!

Almost true, but not really.
Yeah they share parts, and platforms, hence "a partnership."

Ford "owns" Mazda.
Ford owns Jaguar too. And Jaguars do use Ford platforms (X-type) and other parts. They just try no tto use too many because it would lower their image.
