View Full Version : USA models limited power?

I'm Mike from Holland.
I have a USA-spec 325i Vanos Coupe
But when the speedo hits the 200km/h (125MPH) the car is limited.
It won't go any faster, not 1 MPH!!!
Also with accelerating, I find that it's not as quick as a European 325i.
What could be the "problem"?
Is it only the chip that needs replacing?
Was thinking of chipping allready, but now I have a lot more reasons to do it!

yeah a chip will get rid of your top speed limiter and should give u an extra few horses (PS)
is ur car an auto or manual?
if u have enough money there is a lot of things u can spend ur money on to make go faster, if u dont maybe a chip would have to do for now.

he welcome @ max *wave*
most of the bmw's are limited to 250km/h...
there is a way to upgrade the software, so you remove the limiter...

Thnx for your reply!
I just want the European specs, so full 192HP en no 125MPH restriction.
Faster then European specs is not neccesary for me.

I was looking for an E36 325i Coupe, but most of them were nearly finished off..................till I found this one..............it was of a Dutch couple who lived in the Stated, bought the car new there.
Then they moved back to Holland and took the car with them.
My luck is that it's fully loaded, with aircon, parking sensors, cruise control, electric ajustable seats etc. etc., so it wasn't a hard choice for me! I bought it right away!
Didn't know about the limiter though.....
