I think it has something to do with generations difference. What I observed is younger people like the new line and older crowds(ahem, like me) have problem adjusting.

The question strikes at this point is, who is the true target market? The ones who can afford or the ones just drool over it now and determined to buy from that brand the day they will be able to afford(ie graduate etc)

Maybe that's true.

Have you seen these spy shots of the new 3-series?

Spy Shots: 06 BMW 3-Series (http://www.thecarconnection.com/index.asp?article=7322&sid=178&n=158)

I'm sure it will grow on me, but I prefer the current model. I'd seen older spy shots - these and the fear that the new 3-series would have iDrive convinced me to buy a 2004 325i.

BTW, I'm 41 *par-t*

Ugly, heavy, and all the it drives for you garbage. Where is the Ultimate Driving Machine? SMZ should be your right hand and left foot. Active steering should be both your hands. Traction control should be your right foot. What is there to like? I'll keep my E36 forever!
