Hi guys,

I finally found a used 3.38 diff (from a 330i auto) to replace my 3.07 (323i manual) and is now sitting in my garage. I've never done this before and I've researched various forums and found some good info but I would like to hear from the locals who have done this in case I need someone to consult with.

Please share any info that may be useful to my next experiment.

well it isnt easy if u do it in ur garage because of u being on the floor, and u have no leverage. it shouldnt take u too long, if u have the proper tools

The car will be on a hoist so lots of room to work. All the tools are also available.

Have you done this mod on your car? I'm a bit concerned about swapping out the input flange which I read may have to be done. Swapping the output flanges are straight forward but the input flange involves re-tightening of some bolt that may push the gears in too much.

I don't think anyone has done the diff. swap in the local GTA area in a E46...

You have to tell us how it goes *th-up*

Alright, I guess I'll be the GTA guinea pig:) . I'll have it done mid-August when I have more free time. I'll report on how it went down.

I guess I'll have one of the first sleeper E46 323i in the GTA;)

Yes it will be for sale once I'm convinced the swap is a success. There are others who have expressed interest in my 3.07 so whoever has the best offer takes it.

Ah yes, right by Rockwood Mall around 8pm. I was in a hurry... late for a dinner appointment because of the diff swap which my brother and I did at his shop in Etobicoke. Thanks, I do like the deep sound of the Remus Racing Exhaust.

Well, after a couple of days re-learning the correct shift points, I must say this, by far, is the best bang for the buck mod I've done on my car. The car pulls strong and accelerates like never before. I am now spinning my tires which I couldn't easily do before.

I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. I think this mod is it for a while. I'll be enjoying this new diff for a long time before I crave for more.
