View Full Version : Oil Sensor

Hi all! First off my car is an 84 325e with a 325i swap. When they did the swap they did not hook up the oil sensor(?) on the pan. There seem to be 3 wires from the car and only two on the sensor. They must have been confused as to the number of wires so didn't wire it up which causes the oil light on the onboard computer to go on every time I start the car. So is there any way I can fix this? Is it possible to get a 3-wire sensor from a 325e and wire it up? Will it fit in the i pan? Or can I wire the three wires somehow to get the oil light to go out. Much appreciated!!

I dont nunderstand why the # of wires would be different, they must have used the new harness out of the "i" so it should plug right into the "i" oil sensor.

Well I did some more research and they did use the i harness but not the i sensor. They must have re-used the e sensor since the i one is $240. The sensor only has two wires. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Thanks for your help though!
