Doesnt seem like many own E23's anymore. Our 7 was the first Bimmer in the family and we've had her for about 10 years now. Engine swap had been done from another 733i that we have for parts and she runs like new. Are there any other E23 owners out there?

As much as I'm not a fan of the rear of the new 7 series, there's no disputing the perfect blend of sportiness and luxury only the 7 series BMW has to offer.

I for one dont hold the 'looks' of a car as my main priority whether I consider a car. The car's total package in driving dynamics is.

I'll be taking one out two Monday's from now for a day long test drive...... ;)

No, I keep it stock. If I do anything it may be:
01 front corners only
paint the sides and rear only
Shadowline trim??? not sure yet
Sport steering wheel
I don't drive the piss out of it so hp and suspension upgrades are not necessary for me yet.

Umnitza for the DDEs seem to do well and has had a install day for our local group. Suspension try UUC for springs and some other parts. Strong strut for a nice CNC machined shock brace. Superchargers VAC motorsports only. Do you visit other board too? ignore that, you found a good one. Please look at the Newb thread. A must for 7 owners.

Depends on the year and miles/km's on it. Suspension, hoses, pixels, radiator, cats, window regulators, oil separator, oil pump bolts and noises.
If you can't afford to maintain it, don't buy it. Some pay nothing per year and some pay >$3000USD. I pay very little.

I've got a 1985 735i. Just rebuilt drive shaft, most of the smaller engine parts - alternator, etc., need to get the darned speedometer working. Odometer says 156K+, and I know I have probably put 8-10K on it since buying it. Who knows how much is really on it. Runs perfectly, shifts perfectly, a hell of a car.

Needs the driver's seat straightened and the pipe between the cat and muffler replaced. Other than that, it's pretty well perfect.

Thanks, and I'm glad there are some local peeps that I can meet up in the area as well. I have joined bimmerforums since most of those guys have the newer e65/66 models and its hard to get info on these cars, but ya theres tons of info over there.

Mine is actually sliver with black interior, but you will see me more often ripping around when the weather gets better.
Heres quick pic.

Nevermind the small ass 18" rims *thmbsdwn* , those are gonna be changed when the weather gets better. Still wondering if I should get 20's or 22's??? Scared of the potholes in the city as they might bend 22's easy. Of course gonna some tint for the windows, not too dark. You recommend any shops?

Hehehe ... good the hear Hound! You're back in my good books so to speak! ;) :D

Beautiful car Mikey83, definitely a sweet ride! Congrats! ... Give me a shout when you pick up your 20 or 22's, I might be interested in your "small ass" 18's. What about 21's for you? I forget the style, but in my opinion those OEM 21's that you can get for the e65/66 are very nice.

Mikey83
01-30-2008, 01:10 PM
Ya I believe those are style 128. I have been looking at those as well since they do not have a lip and are much stronger. But for 21" tires they are very expensive and only a few companies make them.
In the next few months I will be looking harder and make my mind in the spring time.

Hound
02-04-2008, 12:41 PM
those 21's that you speak of are KILLER rims for the car imho. I would go with some 20's myself if you are getting something other then that, not really worth going 2 more inches at that point but to each their own. If I see you I will shoot you a wave :D

Glad im back in the good books :D

Love it*th-up* , but Red and Auto for Alpina B10*wiggle* , questionable? *uzi*

I'd say it's questionable .. compare the links in my post above. If it is legit, sounds like quite the deal! I have found others online that are priced close to the kijiji post, but they have much higher mileage. What is the book value on B10s anyway??

yea that B10 certainly sounds questionable, if it's not then it seems like a really good deal unless there are issues not mentioned which could also be the case.

The value of a clean one whit 5 speed manual and no issues would be in 12K to 15k range, and the value of the spectacular one that you can take it to a car show would be in 25K to 30K. Again it depend to the options, mileage, and how unmolested it is,

How much did you end up paying Mikey?

Import fees, taxes etc all said and done and on the road plated I paid about $33k Can.

But again I converted my money when our dollar was at $1.10 US in Nov.

^^ sounds like a good price you paid man, I was looking the other day on the trader to see what they are going for and for a clean one with lower K it was in that range.

The E66 is the car I would like to end up with as I just really like them (most people don't like them I guess cause of the "out there" styling but I love em :)) but I'm going to wait untill I can grab a facelifted one, as the only thing im not a huge fan of on the pre-facelift ones is the rear lights, and I like the valence that they added to the rear on the newer ones as well. I would guess that in another few years that they will come down to roughly the same pricepoint. I want white on white personally but would settle for black on sattle brown :D

I hear ya, I'll probably going to drive this thing around until the warrenty is up in 2009 and then sell it. Hopefully wont lose to much since I got a good deal on this one as it is, then maybe get a 2005 model.

I was looking for alpine white with black interior, but it is really hard to find. I dont want white interior since my buddy has it in his benz and the seats are messed up with black marks all over them from peoples pants I suppose.

Ive grown to like the rear end of the the pre-facelifted E65/66, but again I might just change the front end to ACS kit and some rims for sure. Not going to do too much to the car since I luv how it looks already *th-up*

You recommend any shops?

here is a pic of a 745i we sold at the dealership with stock 21" rims... the rims sold the car it was georgouse

Nice ride, but I think I'll be getting the OEM 128 21' sliver rims.
I'm not a big fan of chrome rims, but those are the style I probably will be getting.

If not those a nice brushed face rim, Asanti AF120 or 128 22".
