Money pit. Do the M30 (3.5L out of an E34 '88-'96 535i) and slap a turbo on that.

But if your set on a Supra 3.0L TT engine then the E36 would probably be a better chassis.

Or you could do a m50 like others on max have done

I hate hybrids! Put a BMW engine in it, or sell it and buy a supra. My choice is some sort of M50/S50 variant.

There is a guy on R3V that has a turbocharged Supra 1JZ engine in his e30. I would suggest talking to him.

hey do u know the specs on the m30's? is it a reliable motor??

M30's are pretty roboust motors, but they are heavy. That and the stock power output is pretty lame vs. the displacement.

3.5L making 185HP / 215TQ at the crank. Not that much of an upgrade.

However the M30 does take boost in stride. I've seen many turbo m30 e30's making 600-800hp... not that that is financially feasable.. or daily drivable.

So one of these in an e30 will keep up with an e30/m50..
wat about tranny's? does the m20 tranny bolt on to the m30??

WRONG!

3.5 liter SOHC in-line 6 cylinder - 3430cc
9.0:1 Compression Ratio
208 horsepower @ 5700rpm
225 lb./ft. torque @ 4000rpm
14-17 miles per gallon city / 23-29 highway
89 Octane fuel or better reccommended

And the E34 3.5L's (there are many older variants of it as well) was BMW's longest produced engine.......so the reliablity is pretty damn good.

I also agree...keep the E30 if you plan on getting a BMW engine. Or use one of those silly E36's for the Supra engine! :D
Relax E36 guys! Just playin'!

Sorry... the figured I posted weren't right. The table I read them off of was difficult to scroll over 4 screen widths and not accidently jump down a line.

Either way, the 3.5L M30 is still weak sauce in N/A form.

I would contact empowerd or Motronix on that swap. I know empowerd knew someone that did the swap. It is alot of work but it is well worth it........trust me........I wish I would have slapped that puppy in there instead of the M30.

Mmmmmmmmmmm touque! :)

if you want turbo why not just turbo the M20? From what ive heard they can cheaply and reliably boost up to 280hp. I believe you can have it all done right for under 3k

There is a few member who could probably give you a parts list for the turbo. So you could see what is worth it. Plus maybe a hp on theirs.
