When my E30 sits idling for more than 3 minutes or so, it will start to misfire thus causing a 35% loss of power. It will also do this when the car is cold or has been sitting for a few days.

The only way to get rid of the problem is to drive it for a few minutes or rev it out. The problem does not resolve itself if the car is revved in a stationary position, it has to be in gear and moving.

The car also is not over heating. The heat level would usually just be over half. It sounds like one of the cylinders doesn't fire. Other than that the car runs perfectly, engine is smooth under normal conditions, just your traditional E30 tick.

Any ideas on what it could be?

if you think that not all the cylinders are firing checj the cap, rotor, wires and plugs, or maybe even the coil.

AFM I would guess try to swap AFM's with someone that has a working one.. It could also be the rubber intake hose behind the AFM..
