Here is my custom valve cover for my turbocharged m20.

The following has been removed/shaved:

Breather tube
Intake manifold bracket mount
BMW lettering

It's hard to tell by the pictures but it is powder coated with a snake skin type finish. It looks really good.

The valve cover has also been modified to accept a standard V8 k&N breather filter. This eliminates the PCV system which is perfect for my turbo application.

What do you think?

You would really have to see the finish in person to appreciate it.

I think it would have looked funny with the filter right in the B, and the raised surface wouldn't allow the filter to seat properly.

Perhaps with a different filter you could find a way to make it work. I personally like it shaved, but I think raised lettering with the raised surface sanded looks good too.

I chose not to run a vacuume line to the inlet of the turbo for several reasons. After looking in my stock intake and removing a huge amount of thick caked on oil from my intake runners, it is clear that those vapours really clog everything up. I don't want that in the system or even on my turbo compressor wheel.

There was so much buildup on the intake. I can only assume it is like that all the way along the stock runners. Next time you take off your intake manifold, have it hot tanked to clear that out and open it up for more flow.

Crankcase oil vapours also have the effect of reducing the octane level of your fuel mixture. Not a good thing on a high boost turbo setup.

And yeah I had the same problem with the oil sludge on the intake manifold and throttle body...But I have a question for you, I managed to clean out the TB but have been trying to think of the best way to clean out the intake manifold...so could you explain what Hot tanking is? Thanks:)

You can take it to any machine shop that works on engines to have it hot tanked. It is usually about $10.

Hot tanking involves placing the part in a 'hot tank' of a hot boiling solution.

Cheap, effective, quick, and easy. :)

You could practically eat off of my valve cover after I got it tanked.

LOL!! I did a "cold tanked" in my maanifold a while ago...:D I used high pressure "karcher" and sprayed inside and out side of the intake with previous sprayed with a chemical solution to remove all the crapp.
