ok i can't seem to figure this crap out!

my lower rad hose.. no heat EVER in that thing. So either my rad is working very very good or thermostat is not opening.. My engine didn't overheat it just got really warm and would spike a bit when i hammer on it. So I took out my thermostat and it says "1 712 043 Wahler germany (92 degrees)" ok... went to stealership $52 later i got a thermostat that says "7511 580 Wahler germany (82 degrees)" ok good.. one is completely different!!!!

I told buddy to double check parts and everything five times and he said the old one didn't even show in his computer. so can anyone tell me if i have the right part now? it really doesn't seem to fit the best.. but dude said it was for E30 318 with "round lights" ....."hey you got the round lights or the square ones man" like i'm the stuped one here?

my car is a 1991 E30 318is, M42 engine "round lights" *shiner*
