Agreed. For every bit of rust you can see, there is always twice as much you can't (yet)

I do not think I have ever seen a e30 with a rusted out floor that bad. Hell.. with rust anywhere that bad.

I give the repair job a 4 out of 10.

i would say it wasent bad job on the floors but others act like every bmw is theirs and nothing is good enough. Thats why it is your car not theirs. I had the floors completely redone on mine.sure it would have been easier to sell it but i like my car and could care less if anyone else does.
A+ for trying to keep another e30 from the scrap yard. It is not like they sell floor pans for them.

hey guys in GTA how much did it cost to get your e30 floor pan welded/fixed? I'm thinking of getting mine fixed too. Is it a DIY job? just get the metal plates at home depot and away I go? hehe

Does it leak on to the passenger side from under the dash??

I have a hole through the firewall behind a left of the glovebox..Once I get that all sealed the carpet goes back in..*par-t*

You live in a different type of climate, you haven't seen anything if you think thats rust.

I used to live in NH, where the roads are "paved" in salt during the winter.

Needless to say I now live in a state where snow doesnt happen, and when 1/4inch of snow does fall everyone panics and cleans out grocery stores. Its funny shit.

Back in NH if 3 feet of snow didnt fall overnight, you were still going to school. If 1/4inch falls here the whole state shuts down.

I digress... again I must say... that is alot of rust.

Jase

they dont have to be old hondas to rust around here. I had what i thought was a clean 99 and i found some rust starting. Guess that is what happens when you use old soup cans for body metal.lol

What you should do for comfort reasons or I had to do cause I'am 6'3.. 1.Take out the passenger seat lie with your back on the floor head under glovebox 2. cut all the foam out from behind the glove box with a exacto knife. 3. have a friend pour water on the window and in the air vents under the wiper. 4. Be ready with a brite lite and theres your leak..*th-up* Make sure you cut out all the foam.

No way I would buy (or keep) a car with huge holes in the floor.

I lifted up my carpet not too long ago, only to find that my floors were still like new..........not a spot of anything anywhere. Had there been it would be "bye bye" e30...:D

Rotten floors aren't that bad really.. try getting rid of rust on the door pillars, etc, where its impossible to get to the inside. Anyway, f*ck it, bmdoubleya's car looks and sounds wicked, so getting the floors and trunk done is well worth it.

BTW, do you have any more of that POR stuff? I'm soon going to hammer and grind away the rust on my e30 to get it ready for winter. :) Plus the bumpers from trevorlious.. lol, that should be fun. :)

i like living in the south, my car was brought in to this world to san antonio and stayed there till i bought it. the only leak was in the sunroof, and i fixed that. the carpet still smells bad, anyone know how to get rid of that mildew smell?

bmdoubleya
06-22-2004, 08:58 PM
You should take out your whole carpet and pressure wash it and shampoo it then let it dry for a few day then reinstall..

i used to have a 240z. it needed a lot of welding. rust is like cancer

i sold the car and bought a rust free chassis for 1700. well worth it in my opinion
