I would hate my e30 too if it was a 84 318i....

I had a 80 320i once upon a time, and those are actually faster then the m10 powered e30. (same power, no rev limiter, and less weight)

e30 318i's are sooo painfully underpowered.

I hate it when I add up everything I've done in repairs and upgrades in the past 3 months. Something like $6k.

But when I drive it...:) :) :)

I know mine is very underpowered. I drove my mom's 5000lb Ford Explorer, it has the mustang V8 (4.6l SOHC) and it was sorta fast, but would kill my car. I also drive a '03 Altima 2.5l four banger and it feels stronger, and is, but I hate front wheel drivers.

Guys i so badly want the twin screw in my car it is not funny.

my 318i redlines at 6300. I mean can it handle 10000? 8000? 7251.6?

I revved my 80 320i to 9000+ daily. 320i tachometer only goes to 8k, but i revved it past 8k and into the clock all the time. Those of you that have a 320i know what i mean by "into the clock"

Drove it like this for over a year, no problems from the car whatsoever.

You have Bosch L-Jetronic controlling your engine, and electronic fuel injection. The revlimiter is part of the hardware. Bosch L-Jetronic cannot be chipped to push up or remove the redline.

m10 powered e21's are controlled by mechanical fuel injection and Bosch K-Jetronic. They also cannot be chipped, but there is no redline cutoff programmed in. You can rev up a e21 m10 till the valves float and you throw a rod.
