View Full Version : I will be able to flash OBD-II cars in a few weeks

Hi,

I'm just giving you all a heads up that in about 2 weeks, I'll be able to flash OBD-II cars. And not just BMW's, but Mercedes-Benz, MINI's, VW, Audi. Porsches, and also various others.

I just arrived back from Germany on Friday and was supposed to have brought the equipment back with me but due to a few bank screw-ups it won't be shipped till next week. The neat thing about the system I am getting is that the files I will be loading are already tuned for 98 RON (94 AKI) octane. So you will be able to get much better performance than the files other companies have, which are for 91 octane.

At a later date, I will be developing some custom files but I can get almost any file already tuned from Germany.

These files are typically in the 1500 Euro range and higher in Germany, and all pass the strict TUV emissions.

I have not figured out the exact retail price yet but it will be similar to the other OBD-II upgrades.

By the way, I'll be a Max sponsor in a week or so and then you'll see my banner on here also!

Hey mark i was just curious, is there any way that you can program a OBD I car with a chip thas specially made for the 94 octane over here??

I was just wondering if thats possible, or if you could maybe take my already existing CHIP (made for 91 octane) and change it to 94... lemme know, i've always been using 94 since i got the chip, do i get LESS performance from it?

Sure I can do it. I assume you have an M50tu motor with a 0 261 200 413 DME? Yes you will get better performance with a chip tuned for 94 octane, if you use 94 octane. The reason is that I can advance the timing to take advantadge of the octane.

Send me an email if you have further questions. The email address is on the CONTACTS page of my site.

(I'll be out for some hours as I am going over to my friend's dyno to sort it out) I visited the company we bought the data aquisition system from when I was in Germany, and got the upgrades to fix a few problems. Soon we will have power and torque measuring capability, and we'll have a dyno day. It will be at GRAF auto, on Bentworth Ave near Yorkdale.
Have a look here to see what the system is like:

AWESOME!

I'll drop you a line late also as i have to get going to work soon, but i'd love to get the chip re-programmed, how much would an UPGRADE like this cost me, since i already have the 413-250 confronti chip?? And yes it is the M50tu (95 if that makes any difference!) motor!

Anyways, we'll talk later,

THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY!

I will need your services for my car, it's a 98 540i, I notice you also mention MB cars as well, 2 of my friends would also like to flash their chip as well, one of them has a 99 E300 turbodiesel the other has a 99 C43, more info & pricing would help

Thanks

Here are the gains for the E300:
Output in KW/PS 130 KW/177 PS --> 160 KW/218PS.
Torque in Nm 330 Nm --> 412 Nm
Torque at RPM
1600 U/min 2000 U/min
Speed max in km/h 220 km/h --> 238 km/h
Fuel usage city 11.8 l --> 11.6 l

The hp gain is around 19 hp for the C43

The pricing for MB will be in the $850 area. (in Germany, it costs 650 Euros for the E300 and 900 Euros for the C43) I have to work out exact pricing as I don't think I can charge the same amounts as it would cost in Europe. And typically, turbocharged cars cost more to tune than the normally aspirated ones.

170 KW/231 Hp --> 187 KW/254 Hp.
Torque in Nm 300 Nm --> 330 Nm
Speed max in km/h 250 km/h 261 km/h

The price in Germany is 580 Euros, ($975 CAN) it will cost around $550 CAN + tax here (which is similar to what the other options cost in Canada)

Hi Jeff,

it's easiest if I know the stock hp of your car as then I can look up my database and get the performance info.

Yes that was the euro spec 330, I didn't realise as that was the only one in the database. (I can still do the NA version, just have to read the DME and email to Germany, they will transfer the maps in)

Here is the data for the E46 M3:

Output in KW/Hp: 252 KW/343 Hp --> 276 KW/376Hp.
at RPM 7900 rpm
Torque in Nm 365 Nm --> 401 Nm
Speed max in km/h 250 km/h 295 km/h

The 3.2l E36 M3 goes from 321 hp to 344hp.

I'm interested. What might it do for my car? 325ci (m54). I have an intake and exhausts (and upgraded headers down the line). Does the software take that into account?

The first 10 cars that come to get an OBD-II performance improvement will get it for 25% off. My target price will be $500 so that means you can get "loaded" for $375. This is a limited offer to get some people to try the software and mention it.

Hi mark

the stock hp for the M Coupe is

99-00 S52 = 240HP
01-02 S54 = 315HP

the company that makes the wideband air fuel ratio meter has not released the pressure sensor kit yet, and I need that to tune your car. Give me a call later this week.

The version they have in Europe must be different from the one here, as in my database it shows:

Output in KW/PS 260 KW/354 --> PS 278 KW/379PS.

So it indicate the power goes from 354 to 379.

(files for this are not the same price as the normal BMW's)

I flashed my first car today, a 2003 E46 M3 with SMG paddle shifters.

Excellant job Mark

I gather you didn't go with Jim Conforti's tuning software then :)

Any reason why?

I wanted to get his system, but I don't think he is in any rush to sell it. I would send an email asking questions, and never get a clear answer. Twenty emails later and I still didn't know exactly what he was selling, when it would be ready, or the licencing fees.

Last time he mentioned that it would cost $50 or $75 USD for each unique VIN that I was going to load code into. (and that's just to load code, that does not include the price of buying his files or developing my own.

On Friday I'll probably upgrade an E39 M5. It will be interesting to see how that goes. The 2003 E46 M3 I upgraded yesterday was a fast car stock, but with the new software it's amazing.
