first of all, dealer prices do mean something when the rims are kind of hard to find....

i've had these rims ever since I had my car and this is only the second time I ran accross them for sale

bump for amazing rims

i had both these rims and m3 rims sitting in my garage, i can tell you right now that all offers i had for both of these "rare oem rims" was not even half of the dealer price

These rims are the only reason i'd buy a 540, you wouldn't understand, i have a FETISH with these rims, they're so hot, and since i first bought my car 3 od years ago its been my dream to get these, just didn't know they made em for an E36 (if in fact they do!)

Besides, they're a REAL 2piece rim, so you can black them out pROPERLY!

That was the same thing that drew me to BMWS was these rims... Had I not gotten a nice cross spoke with a dish, I would drive to Edmonton to get these rims, they are the best rims BMW put out IMO. Congrats to whomever gets em (hoepfully you Soldo so I can enjoy lookin at em too ;)

again, i own these exact rims and they are all 17x7.5 with about an inch lip all arround. The bolts really finish the rim off nice!!! Plus, if you spend some time on them, you can get that lip to bling like crazy*th-up* *th-up*

sloveniaboy - I have these exact rims off of a 98 540
they wont fit an e36 will they?

sloveniaboy
06-03-2004, 11:26 PM
nope

problem is offset

also Paul, these rims of yours aren't exactly the same but are quite similar....

offset of yours is different and the lip is wider on the back two rims. I must say that yours would look better than these with that deeper lip in the back......but from what I've read, they wont fit :( Nice rims though *th-up*

Sloveniaboy, these have a different PRODUCT NUMBER then the 540 rims?

Aren't they pretty much just the FRONT rims off the 540?

Also, what is the EXACT offset? Is it the same as my M 10 spoke rims? This is an important question cause i dont want to run into issues with rubbing against my coilovers!

Also, anyone know what shipping would run me for these?

I love the 540 rims as well and think they would look amazing on an E36 thats why I pkced these up..they look almost exactly the same, just missing a deeper lip in the back....

I don't know about the product number but if you want i can snap some pics of the codes on the rim. I don't know if the fronts are exactly the same but they do look it!!

I know on my buddies 95 M3, he's got 7.5 in the back with 235s and 41mm offset, they fit great.

Also, the E39 Hub center is 74mm, not good for us due to that fact that all other bimmers go with 72.5mm. So the E39 hub centers are bigger and wont be centered.

So your telling me that THESE rims have the same hub center as the E36's 72.5mm??

If you could get a pic of the product number, since yours fit perfectly, then maybe i can see if the seller has the same number, just to make sure!

I need to get these rims as soon as possible, they're so hot!

Sloveniaboy, did you lower your car? What did you lower it with? And i'm more concerned about the offset cause of the FRONT coilovers!

sloveniaboy
06-04-2004, 06:35 AM
yup, these rims fit perfectly. If he has the same ones I own, then they should. They look exactly like mine and are the same in detail. 17x7.5 all arround.

My car isnt lowered yet, but it came stock with Mtech full suspension so it sits a little low already. There is tons of room!!! I'm planning to put H&R Race springs on in about a month so I'm sure they'll clear well. I am also running 225/45 series rubbers, so that gives me an advantage to go a bit lower. You can slap a max width of 245 on these 7.5 rims but I don't know if you'll clear in the back with your suspension.

All in all, these rims with my mtech suspension has given me no problems at all and I don't plan on anything happenning when I put the race springs in. I was even thinking of putting spacers in the back to bring em out, there's that much room.

Get these rims*th-up* Don't listen to what others have been saying, I seriously hardly ever see these rims for sale, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough!!

235 45 17 continental very low on tread

They made a few versions of this rim, and like slovenia pointed out, the front E39 540i rim and this set for sale ARE DIFFERENT, the hub is smaller. These are perfect, someone needs to buy them NOW.

Plus, burnout rubber is the best rubber. :D

I'm worried about the front rubbing because i got the PSS 9's, and i had a set of E46 16's on my car once, and it rubbed against the sleeves of my coilovers, so i don't want that to happen! With regular shocks and spring you have nothing to worry about, but coilovers are made differently!

I just need to know if anyone knows if the offset of these rims are the same as my M 10 spokes??

soldomatic, here are some shots of the same rims on my car before it goes into paint and gets lowered, so in this pic it's sitting on M-Tech sport suspension from the factory.

i seen these a LONGGG time ago when i sold a spoiler to member on this board, he had those exact rims and all this time i completely forgot about them!!

But listen, do us all a favor, your car looks good, but PLEASE OH PLEASE dump the hell outta that biyach, it looks TOO high, hehehe, sorry, i can't help it, just drop it, it'll look a hundered times better!

But it looks good though!

EDIT: BTW, how much did you pay for your rims, PM me with a price if you don't mind, i just wanna know whats the most i should spend for these rims, cause i want them BAD, just don't want them to cost me an arm AND leg, since i'm going to have to get new tires as well!

06-05-2004, 05:28 AM
:(

i know, i have a lock on a set of H&R Race springs and bilstein shocks

i don't want to pay an arm and a leg for the suspension due to the money im dumping for paint and other shit, soldo, what would be a good setup other than what I have a lock on??

i can get this current setup for 600CAN

Soldo
06-05-2004, 10:07 AM
Stick to the current setup you have, just make sure that the H &R's have a nice drop to them, they SHOULD, and it'll be a big difference over the height your at now, and for 600 can, stick to that, you'll be more than happy!

Hey guys, just need some feedback..... i really like these rims, but i don't wanna get ripped off, the rims are gonna need new tires, so its pretty much just the rims that are being sold here.

Is 1500 + SHIPPING a good price???
I dunno it just seems a bit TOO much for used 17's, just wondering, is this a good price??

Paul540/m3
06-09-2004, 10:50 PM
They are rare rims(especially for e36) so the chances of finding them again i would say is slim. It all boils down to how bad u want them, there are other rims available for that price so you should take that into consideration, but if they are a msut have then i say grab them.
just to give u an idea i sold m3 18'z for 1200(not really related but just to give u an idea)
thats my 2 cents anyways

See, i know, and theres all kinds of RARE BMW rims, especially M rims, which still sell a LOT less!

And the thing is i want these rims BADLY, but it just seems a bit too much since i'll have to grab new tires as soon as i get them, so they'll clear closer to 3 g's for these!

Paul540/m3
06-09-2004, 10:59 PM
u could try and grab used tires???
tires are always a bitch haha
or try to grab something decent but less expensive like the new bridgestone fuzions

but only if these are a must have would i say grab them because i think they are kind of pricey myself
I'll just put it in perspective, i grabbed 19inch rims aith tires for less than that
its up to you, but i would look around and see what other similar styles are around that you might like almost as much and price those out

Jon@Bimmersport
06-09-2004, 11:01 PM
i think $1200 is a more fair price to be honest, and everyone knows how im in the business *th-up*

Just my 2 cents :-)

$1400-$1500 is a very reasonable/good price for these (used) rims, as long as they are in mint condition. At this price nobody is getting shafted.

Rather than guess, lets take a look how much it would be to get new ones. PACIFIC BMW in U.S. has a reputation for best prices on parts. The same rims for 3-series are selling for US$456.60.

http://www.pacificbmw.com/catalog/wheels/detail.asp?series=3%20Series&pid=11

So, lets do the math:

US$456.60 X 4 = US$1826.40 * $1.36 (US exchange approx) = CDN$2493.90 + $400-500 (for shipping, brokerage fees, GST/PST) = CDN $3000 [for brand new rims from US]

Used rims on Bimmer forums typically sell for half price, give or take.
