Well that sucked....

After leaving work today my beloved E30 was broadsided by a Young kid with an N.

Hood is shot, fenders are toast, rad kinda exploded, drivers side wheel now turns independantly, lights, grills, and bumper.

What are the chances ICBC is gonna write it off and give me a decent settlement =/

that sucks man.....I wrote off my old 320i when I hit a moose up near Prince George 5 years ago. They offered me a crappy settlement to begin with, but just reject it and plead your case. I eventually got what I deserved.
They offered me $1400 to start with, but after talking to them and explaining that my car is worth more than that blah blah blah, I got $2900

How long were you in negotiations for?

Shit man, I'm sorry to hear that. As long as you are safe that's what counts.
If you have pictures of the work that was done to the car + condition of it before acident...show it to the insurance and tell them to check local magazines for something similar...and to give you that price.

If you still have the car and they decide to write it off, I'd suggest removing everything you put in it (seats, mags, skirts etc..) to cut some of your losses

Well ICBC already called..

Since I am 100% not at fault, they've already started the whole process.

Car is being towed over to the body shop for assessment, I get to go pick up a rental after work and hopefully by tomorrow I will have an answer if its a write off or not.

*please fix it, please fix it, please fix it*

In BC you have to drive with a green "N" on the back of your car for 18 months after you get your licence. Same thing out here as your G1 before you get your G.

Well ICBC called already.

Since we don't have a local dealership, he said he started adding up the costs using used parts. He stopped counting when it hit $6000 =/

So it's a write off, black book is between $4-5000. Spookily enough, on my way out to dinner tonight a local car lot has an 85-87 325IS in black!

So going back tomorrow for a spin and to take it over to my mechanic. Maybe this will turn out in the end!

ICBC also said it's ok for me to get my stereo equipment and the E36 seats I just put in. Picked up a new digicam today so going to get some pics of the wreck tomorrow.

Still no word from ICBC, but picked up my rental car today.

Also took the 87 IS to my mechanic. His words were "If you don't buy it, I will."
Very clean undercarriage, everything looks great. As long as I don't get deeply penetrated by ICBC I think I'll be picking it up.

More news come Monday!

Don't find many good e30s, sounds like a nice find. Good luck, and waiting on the pics.

Looks like the BMW took it well, so would you describe the accident as high impact? Thought any about parting the car?

SourSamo

I'm still waiting to hear how much the salvage is gonna be, but I honestly don't know what would really be worth it on the car.

SourSamo

Well ICBC came with the settlement.

$3500 plus a voucher for Gst if I buy another car at a dealer. Salvaging the car would be $600 + Gst.

No idea what I'm gonna do for a new one now.

I just dropped $1400 in repairs, thats why I got what I did. If only the market for bmw's out west was like it is in the east.
