Hey guys.. I recently purchased a 86 325e. I have it running for a couple of days now and am wondering how much mileage can I get from it per tank? I heard 800km, 700km, 600km etc. etc. Anyways, 325e owners how much are you really getting from it? Also, guys with the i/is/es/xi whats your gas mileage? :)

So far i'm doing 270km almost half way my gas.. mostly street

the best I have ever gotten was 750km and thats when the light came on so I still had some left, thats all highway. I average probably about 650-675 with a mix of city and highway.
thats with a super eta. So not sure if that would be much different than a normal "e"

650-675 is pretty good. Shouldn't be the normal "e" more gas friendly? hehe

320-330km with a 90 325i
Maybe bad o2 sensor could be causing this??

recently i got 500km with 96 km left on the obc, but i filled up anyways.

For some reason it seems that since i lowered my car i've been getting better mileage, or maybe i jus drive hwy more. But i dont think so....werid

I get 9L/100km in town driving. and 7L/100km on the highway, although I have gotten 6.25L/100km on the highway. So 55L tank, in town that would translate to about 550km with some left in the tank, and about 700km on the highway.

do regular 325e's only have a 55L tank? on the super e its 64L...odd, cuz I would have thought it would be the same.

Quick question, does a 325i take premium gas? I got one mid-may, but it non-functional (for now) and there is no owner's manual. I would assume it takes the best fuel possible, but I want to be sure.

a stock m20 will run fine on regular....but if you have a chip or something that advances your timing you will need premium...

not to butt int but get like 24 mpg in my 84 318 and I try to stay off the loud pedal, I call it the loud pedal because it gets loud and doesn't go muich faster.
I have some timing problems I knwo but it advanced about as far as 93 gas will take. Do I need to replace the O2 sensor? It has two wires coming from it I think and one is severed for some reason, I suppose I could reattach the wire and try it then, but are there any alternatives to the near $100 (US) replacement?

If the signal wire is severed then reataching it will not work, because the voltage is so low and so critical that it wouldn't work properly. If its the other wire...the heater coil(i beleive) its not as critical, but should be replaced at some point, this will cause the car to run rich while it is warming up. And there are universal 2 wire O2 sensors from bosch that will work, and its significantly cheaper...I think $90 (CAD).

edit: also if your O2 sensor was dead, I think you would be getting much worse that 24mpg....and your check engine light should come on too.

And remember he is in the states, there gallon is smaller than ours. 24mpg American is about 28mpg Canadian

Do you canadian guys still say Miles per gallon or Miles per Kilometer?

I get about 24mpg.. But I drive like a gramma. :(
Never take it past 2k
So that rounds to 39MpK or 38.616Mpk.

miles per gallon is still used up here by some. but our gallon is 4.56 litres, where yours is 3.785 litres. Litres/100km is used most often though.

My OBC average is 10.8, been like that for months. So, around 500-530km.

I get 450-500 with a highway city mix.

I once got 600km when the light came on and that was driving up north at about 90km/h in 5th so...

I cut the belt for the power steering and gained 1/l per 100k and adverage out at about 550klh per tank before the light went on. Driving the crap out of it but then again probably a good 40% city driving time to 60% highway driving time for the ratio and a JC chip on premium was always used
