I have the money for school right now so all the money I will make from now on will have to go to my car...

PS the car will be stored in the winter, unlike this year.

i say u just slam yr car on the ground and fix the lil things and then enjoy cuz putting so much money into your car makes u think after, cuz u never know when somthing will come up. Lately i been thinkin and i enjoy being in my car the most when everythnig is runing perfect n everything is lookin good and releiable. but if u really want to do an engine mod y not grab a 325 motor or somthin

Why do 6 people think it's not worth it on my car?....

It has 141,000 kms, and it's green, it can look like a sleeper. My car is in good condition too, no rust, (except for 1 mm spot behind the rear wheel), and the passenger door lock doesn't get any power. That's it...

It will probably have enough power to hang with 328's, and also be lighter.

what is DASC

BMW_7

It is a supercharger for the 318i that gives 220 hp and 200 tq at the crank. Obviously it will not have the same pulling power in the highway speeds as a higher displacement engine would, eg: 325i or 328i. But the torque and the acceleration at lower RPM will be there.

The way i see it, the 318i is lighter. The engine sits lower in the bay than the I6 which means better handling. I wil pay less for insurance and fuel as well..

plus.. I have NO engine mods now whatsoever. I will be recieving my suspension soon though.

I have not driven a DASC-equipped car yet. I wish I could get a chance before I fork out the money but. I am pretty confident.

Not as much power as you may think.

how about you save up another $4000 and sell your E30 so that'd give ya about $10K - $13K....

buy a small condo, rename it Casa Shag.... and prepare for more fun than an E30 could ever provide.

If you have only $4000 to spend, don't even bother buying the DASC unless you have some left over money to fork out in case you run into problems and require further tuning.

If you're really hungry for power, you might as well save up for an engine swap or buy a new/used 3'er with the 6-banger.

If you think you can deal with the power your car has, then work on suspension mods, I believe you're still on the stock suspension setup?

^I have my suspension coming soon and my car will be stored in the winter so I am not worried about that.

I dunno what's wrong. When I wanted a 318, everyone told me to get a 325i, that I will think the 318 is too slow. But I insisted that I wanted the 318 for the handling it has...and so I bought one not listening to anyone.

Now I want DASC, and that whining sound, I loved it since I saw the Italian Job, the way the mini's were whistling. I am still 18, so I have plenty of time to save money for other things. I just want to spend the money on my car now, cause she deserves it :)

An engine swap would not be an option since I would lose too much money on it.

Serously, I'm not that much of a speed freak. 0-60 in high 6 or low 7 secodnds is plenty for me, since right now I'm in close to 9 seconds.

Anyway I have a month to make up my mind

Not as much power as you may think.

Would you say you are a bit biased since you have a M3 and a 540i? But then again you had a supercharged 318 too. On bimmerforums everyone seems to praise DASC as the only valuable mod on a 318.

Well, I don't know much about turbos. I know that they need tons of work later on, and they require an intercooler, but the supercharger is very reliable, has boost throughout the rev range and was on the market for 5 years already.

but if someone could shed some light on it please do... What kinda parts would I need?

If you want more power then get DASC with MarkD's tuning. Forget about turbo and engine swaps. One is too high maintenance/expensive the other is a waste of money.

If you are planning to keep your car for a long time, and you are planning to do autoxs and school then get coil-overs. Don't bother with springs/shocks combo.

DASC/coilovers/swaybars and you have a car that will make M3s run for its money.

you're 18 eh? imagine being 20 and having your own condo.
do what you want but I think that'd be more pimp than ANY car...

in your own condo, chicks can go from 0 to neekkkkid in under 5.0 seconds.
