I feel like a twit having to ask opinions on this as I am usually a very decisive person. But, here goes anyway. Considering the purchase of an '04 X5 4.4i with sport/activity package (sterling grey) vs an '04 M3 (silver grey) with 6sp/18" rims (upgrade to 19's next year). Anyhow, I like them both a lot and have been humming and hawing between them both for the past month. Can only afford to buy one. Will drive it all year. If you had to choose, which one would you choose?

Thanks for your opinions.

M3 would be a good choice, but if the area he lives in has more snow then us than the X5 would be the better choice

2lehelix is this a daily driven vehicle? do you have a family? kids, pets etc etc etc.....

A little more info...I am in a 2001 540i/6sp right now. Driving it in Edmonton. It will be my sole car. There is snow (maybe 3-4 snowfalls per winter of about 6inches/15cm). Never had a problem in the 540i with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

The car will be my daily driver. I am not married, no kids, pets. Was thinking of a german shepherd dog, but not anymore.

I think that at the end of the day, the X5 is nice, probably the most versatile. But there is just something about the M3. I like them both a lot, so a hard decision. I don't like to flip vehicles often.

Anyone here with a M3 drive it in the winter in an area where there is relatively significant snowfall? How is it with snows?

Thanks alot for putting up with this poll.

i say go to europe ... find a 97 m3 EVO 6 speed ... and bring it here, put it to the track... and drive it around (illegally) every once in a while ... E36's are soo much more sportier... the E46's are focusing more and more on luxury...

your young and single... enjoy it with an M3. take a cab when it snows! with the price of gas going up, you'd probably save some money with the M3... damn, i wish i had that dilemna...

Before I ask the next question, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for responding. Sometimes you just need to talk things over with someone to feel good/confident about the choice you are making.

The next question is whether anyone here with an M3 is running it in the winter and, if so: i) how is it in the winter? ii) which rim/winter tire combo are you using?

Thanks.
