View Full Version : 330ci - now with 512mb ram!

05-18-2004, 07:54 AM
Wanted to share some pics of my 330ci, I have a mini computer installed in it. It works via a 7" touchscreen, voice recognition, and a wireless keyboard. It has a pentium 3 processor and runs windows xp. It also functions as a GPS Navigation system, a DVD system, a 100 gig MP3 library, and has a wireless internet connection. Check it out:

It was done at Epic Designs in Coquitlam, BC. The mount and the armrest are custom made. The computer feeds sound through the cd changer input, so I simply press 'cd' twice to hear the music. The voice-guided gps navigation comes in handy. I haven't used it much, but it has a cd burner & dvd player. I can record streaming mp3 mixes as I listen to them, then burn them to cd if I want. Next I'm having a custom software alarm installed which I can log into through an ip address. I'll be able to control a camera to check out whats going on around the car - from anywhere in the world.

That enough?

I'll post some more pictures of the car, it's pretty much stock otherwise.

This is an Epic Designs product as well:

thats THE sickest thing ive ever seen. GOOD JOB man its honestly just amazing :)

06-06-2004, 07:10 PM
how muhc did that all cost u btw, if u dont mind me asking

06-08-2004, 09:51 AM
under 5K including the system, all the software, and all the parts & labour. The custom install isn't cheap, but its so worth it. They are pros at making things look OEM.

06-08-2004, 09:02 PM
What kind of antenna is that you have? make? model? cost? It looks really cool!

06-09-2004, 05:15 AM
man that thing is just crazy...
i can't believe how they were able to relocate your radio and air controls so cleanly

06-09-2004, 05:31 AM
That is the sickest install I have ever seen!!  *th-up*

I bet pro athletes with their Escalades and Mercs wiil be all over this install.

07-02-2004, 01:55 AM
YOU MY FRIEND ARE THE MAN!!!... By far one of the cleanest and sickest install I've ever seen

07-04-2004, 04:53 PM
holy shit thats clean i thought it was the navi system lol

07-05-2004, 12:54 AM
****ing sick!!!!!

How did you hook that all up? ...if you don't mind typing it all :D

07-09-2004, 03:54 AM
Heh - Glad you guys like it ;)

The computer kit is available right from epic designs. Check epicdesigns.ca for their #. They make the antenna too, I think its the only stainless steel one available. It's always wet out here so the aluminum ones just dont cut it.

The Install only took a couple of days, The stereo and heater controls seem to fit in pretty naturally. They made the screen surround out of fiberglass. As far as I know they're the only shop specializing in car computers.

still lovin' it ;)

AMAZING !! sickest install ive ever seen... CONGRATS !

07-15-2004, 10:19 AM
Sweet for mere $5K. It is even better than OEM BMW GPS option IMO.

Your post is becoming a 'nerd' magnet.

07-19-2004, 03:14 PM
No matter how many times you hear this . . . .

That's F***ing Awesome ! ! !

Nice install ! ! !
Love the arm rest ! ! !

07-27-2004, 01:47 PM
would be even nicer if the computer can be taken out to become a laptop! Good job!!*th-up*

however i have a couple questions:
1. does your xp take 5 minutes to boot, ie, you arrive your destination and the xp is still booting??!! :D
2. if you get a segmentation fault, does your car hang???
3. how long do you think it takes before someone breaks your windows and steal it? :D

07-29-2004, 02:55 PM
1) XP Hibernates, thus only takes about 15 seconds to boot. However it starts to boot when I unlock my door from my keyfob. Winamp is usually playing already by the time I sit down.

2) I've never gotten a segmentation fault.

3) It looks OEM enough that nobody has thought about it yet.

I don't really have interest in turning it into a laptop. With this and my bluetooth pda, who needs a laptop?

07-29-2004, 02:57 PM
WOW...i absolutely love your setup..if i ever get an e46 coupe...thats the FIRST mod i'm doing to it :D

07-29-2004, 07:49 PM

mass props for this install. creative man, that is a primo way to spend 5 g's on your ride.

how does the internet work? satellite connection? how much do you have to pay?

for your 100 gigs of mp3s... can you easily remove the HD and hook it up to your home PC or something, and just copy/paste ?

07-31-2004, 09:25 PM
holy...as soon as i can afford a e46 bimmer...and the 5gs to have this done...i'm shipping my car to vancouver :D ...hell might even take the trip down there with it :)

08-19-2004, 09:01 PM
Awesome man. That setup looks really clean and sharp!

08-28-2006, 01:42 PM
