was just at the track this weekend and ran 15.7 but my reaction time was way over a second very sad and I red lined every gear cause I was to excited.. So I think with some practice I will get high or mid 14's. + I could lose a couple hundred pounds off the car next time I go..

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cant get a good picture of the sheet for some reason but I will try to explain it..

I did 2 runs my first says....

reaction 1.302

I1 .000
I2 6.702
I3 9.870
MPH ( I3 ) 72.458
I4 .000

E.T. 15.705
MPH 73.249

Kicked my bro's ass in his Vr6 this run Which I almost never do on the street..

My second run...

Reaction 1.082
I1 2.356
I2 6.920
I3 10.132
MPH ( I3 ) 71.451
I4 .000

E.T. 15.754
MPH 87.348

Won this one also against a modded 318 i

Dude, RT isn't included in the 1/4 time.

Also, I'll assume the speed in the first run was a typo. Decent times for an M20B25 in any case. What mods?

Did you go to Luskville? We should do a meet there sometime this summer.

What was a typo??? my top speed?? Even if the RT isn't part of the total time I think I might be in the low 15's with pratice..

I have 288 schrick cam, Triflow, Cone filter, Chip, and a very solid suspension..

Hey wassup,

here are my times for a comparison. Like he says he had bad shifts but is it normal for an 4cyl to be so close to a 2.5 inline 6?

My mods are: Drop-in K&N filter, chip, muffler, unfortunatly removed the resonator, at least it saved some weight but I now have that raspy sound...

1st run Right Lane won vs riced-out Z24

Reaction: 1.138
I1: .000
I2: 7.038
I3: 10.337
MPH(I3): 66.787
I4: .000

E.T.: 16.239
MPH: 83.755

2nd run Left Lane lost vs bmdoubleya (I had the spare tire removed  )

Reaction: .985
I1: .000
I2: 7.114
I3: 10.476
MPH(I3): 66.287
I4: .000

E.T.: 16.337
MPH: 83.749

i took my car to the track last year and it ran 15.2. that is also because i can drive, and go when you have no gas and everything out of your car, ie the spare tire, etc. all i have done to my car is borla exhaust and k&n. i think that e30's came stock running a 15.7-8 in the 1/4. was this your first time, because your reaction time is low, that would cause you to loose on the street. anyway that is cool man, down here they have a track about 30 min from my house and they have "import" night and the bimmers come out and race the honda crap. good luck with future running. and practice your reaction time.

What does all this mean Please tell me???

Reaction time does not change your 1/4 mile time....

And there is no way you can do high or mid 14's with the same setup you got...

Something has got to change cause ...15.7...is the stock 1/4 mile time on a E30

And i think Bob Loblaw would give you your money's worth at the track...

hey Bob Loblaw, let me know when you get some people together to go to Lusksville, I would like to try this some day.

Is'nt the track in Stittsville also available to the public?

This Wednesday is our BMW Club meeting if you are interested. We meet around 7pm at The Cottage Kitchen Restaurant on Parkdale, north of Scott street.

You bet, Klaus, I'll let you know. It'd be fun. As for the track in Stittsville, I could say. I've never been there.

Thanks for the invitation for this Wednesday. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. These are monthly meetings, right? I may be able to go to the next one. What's the date?

Sly But still I could improve on this time with better driving and if I lose some wait from the car correct??

deffinetly..and the bite you can get at the track given the right launch is where it counts...you cant make huge differences just pulling stuff outta the car..it takes a bit more than that..from 14-15 secs the standard is 0.1 seconds for every 100 pounds

With the setup you have now, you should do better for sure...

It could all be some minor tuning issues up to the driver...

I remember at one time i started at 15 secondes....
dropped to 14.8 then 14.3 and then the one time i went and did 13.85....

That was with cooler air, better traction, and more experience driver i guess.....

Once you go more often and get to know your car better at the track...You will be doing good consistent times ...

I know my heartbeat goes nuts once on the starting line ....

My buddy did a run against me and he was so nervous at the line that he got the rear wheels at the light instead of the front wheels...So i guess he had one car lenght ahead of me ..But I Won anyway....:D

So keep it up bmdoubleya

Meeting are every 3rd wednesday of the month. We have a Sunday Drive on the 30th of May, a nice tour along some very twisty roads and then a BBQ at Sharbot Lake.

Sorry to hitch-hike this thread, but I have a question on the G-Tech Pro, how acurate is this to measure 0-60 or the 1/4 mile.

I borrowed one but I have not had time to play with it. Acording to the instructions, I have to dial in the weight of the car (E30 fully loaded) with driver only, (GVWR on Drivers door says 3,680lb, minus 4 Passengers) = about 3,000lb??

I will take a few runs up and down the road and see what numbers come up.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably be able to join you guys for the July and/or August ones. Every Wednesday night until the end of June aren't possible for me. My wife works on Wednesday nights so I'm home with the kids. Come July and August, though, I'm sure I can make it.

I don't know if the G-Tech Pro questions were directed to me but I'm sorry to say I know nothing about it.

P.S. Is the M6 out? If so, you have to post pics! It's the law!! :)

Count me in on the tour to luskville, I went a few times last year...but hardly any bimmers....well actually just tony and I. Lets get this hooked up!

Klaus...I think the gtech only needs the weight for measuring horsepower...for 0-60 and 1/4 mile its just goes on accel g's however I havn't used mine in a while so I could be wrong....as for acuraccy I find its consistent...so in other words its good for measuring one gtech to another, or checking different mods...but its not really a good comparo to actual track times. IMO.....and BTW do you drive a black m6 by anychance?

msix
05-19-2004, 09:12 PM
mine is red, I don't know if the picture is going to work but I will try to attach one.

The way I understand the instructions on the G-Tech is you take the GVWR on the door of your car. This number includes the full passenger capacity. If you deduct the a weight (180lb) for each missing passenger you should have it right.

So I guess 2,900 to 3,000 lb's should be close.

Your 325 looks just like the little twinn to the sixer. Your wheels look like Racing Dynamics too.

Oh, and there's that whole M engine difference also. :)

45,000KM on your car klaus?????? It's like it just rolled of the lot*th-up*

Hey can I tag along for the may 30th drive??

msix
05-20-2004, 04:03 AM
Did I say 45k km somewhere, sorry, that was a couple of years ago. Now it's actually 55,200km to be exact.

The number one secret to keep your car in showroom condition is NOT to drive it in the winter.
Even my 85 325 is absolutely rust free and looks almost as nice. It does get a lot more use during the year and a lot of track time, but if the car does not see any snow and salt, it will stay clean for a long time.

You are welcome to join us on our Sunday Spring Drive. It does not cost anything, a BBQ at the end of the tour is free and it is mostly for the Club members, but also potential new members are welcome. No pressure to join the Club, just check out the scene and if you are at all interested in Track days, we do a lot of these.

Go to our website to for more information.

we will meet on sunday, May 30th at 9:30am at the Petro Canada in Almonte. This is about 30min west of the (very empty) Corel Centre.

BTW, anybody in for some AutoX ?
MCO is starting their season this Saturday (tomorrow) in the (very empty) Corel Centre Parking lot. I will be there with my 325, I always enjoy fighting it out with the WRXs, Integras and Hundas. It's suppose to be wet tomorrow, which is a great equalizer.

Did you even read the first page??:D

How did those pictures turn out when you had your tri-pod set up?? Did you take any pictures of my car??
