i don't think that's even a word... in any case, i'm wondering if my double spoke five stars (OEM 16") can be polished??

if so, will they come out looking almost like chrome?

thanks

I am assuming they are aluminum?
Anything aluminum can be polished.... Can they come out like chrome.....
Maybe the first time they are polished up.... but your going to have to maintain them really good....
Get them done by someone that has done wheels before....
Good Luck:)

If the aluminum is not clear-coated, you can polish to your heart's content, and achieving a chrome-like mirror finish is possible. If clear-coated, you're out of luck.

Can I polish rims on my own?
Like what stuff should I buy?

Like what stuff should I buy? That depends on the style of rim you have to determine how easy the job is going to be, and how degraded the surface is pre-polish. If the condition is severe, you might consider having it done professionally. Otherwise, you could do it yourself with some polishing compound (I use Eagle One Mag/Chrome Aluminum Polish with excellent results) applied with a 100% cotton terry cloth towels. If your rim design has nooks and crannies, you might have to use a Dremel tool with polishing bits to get the job done effectively. I find this technique very effective on unclearcoated rims. Perhaps in a future Toronto meet, if you people allow, I will bring my Mazda with polished lips to show you first hand how spectacular the results can be. Good luck! *th-up*
