spend the extra buck.. bavauto.com had a whole kit with bushings, lever, rod, everything! it's the only way to improve the shifting over stock.

Step up to the best and get a UUC Motorwerks EVO3 kit. I have sold and used all of them and the new EVO3 really is the industry standard! The throws are lighter effort than the other kits and it is soooo smooth!

should i get lowering springs or a short shift kit first?

Lowering springs and SSK's are two total different mods. You could pick up a Z4 3.0l shifter with OEM bushings for $60. This will be a notchy and very short shift.

When you do lowering springs, there are other costs. When you drop your car, you will want to have upgraded shocks. Also, you should replace other stuff while you are there, i.e. Rear shock moutns and bushings. Suspension modification will cost much more than the Z4 SSK.

Good luck.

LOL, my shifter costed about 1/20th of what my suspension did.

My Z4 3.0 shifter is quite notchy, I love it.

if you going with a ssk go with oem parts either a z4 3.0 lever if you like the shift knob lower or try a m-coupe shifter for a taller shifter i know that is waht i will put in my car as you can shift quicker if the shifter is higher up (ie closer to your hand)
