My girlfriend is having an issue with her 88 325i. The car has 450,000km on it. The other day she was having problems shifting into gear. The clutch pedal has been sticking to the floor. Her father is thinking the clutch needs replacement, but I thought I had read that the pedal sticking to the floor was a different issue. I tried to search but couldnt find anything. Any ideas what it could be?

First thing to do is to check your brake fluid reservoir... if the fluid is lower than the highest hose then you have leak in either your clutch slave cylinder (mounted on the tranny) or clutch master cylinder (mounted inside the car on the pedal assembly).

Report back on the above and we can take it from there
