I think you need to adjust the focus settings. You can focus on the foreground and blur out the background or vice versa. I can do tht with my mum's Canon-it can take photos of stuff 20 feet away and not take a picture of anything closer at all. If I were to take the same picture, I could take the TV and wall and wipe out the remote completely. Its a pretty cool feature.

I think you might need some more time with the instruction manual. :) The photo still looks great, nonetheless.

it auto focus'd on the remote :) U can focus it with the manual to focus the TV instead

The digital rebel is a sick camera hands down, but don't limit yourself with the rebel I suggest look around Olympus or Nikon those companies makes good SLR digital camera too they're prices are very comparable to the rebel now. I notice that Olympus's 5MP SLR camera is much crisper than the rebel mainly because of their high quality lens. Also I guess you already know that you can just get the SLR body and then get a much nicer lens later on.

Yes! I'm kicking myself now for getting the Digital Rebel. Don't get me wrong, its a great camera and is far far more than I need, but I took a look at the D70 and the feel is so much better (grip and overall feel). It also comes with a much better lense so if your willing to pay 500 more for a D70 then do it, but then again, I probably only feel this way cause there are always nicer cameras out there than the one I own

But the Digital Rebel is still great. I'm sure you'll do great things with this camera DevilOnWheelz seeing as how the pictures you took with your last camera were awsome

There will always be newer cameras coming out every month but what ever choice you make get a camera that suits your needs depending what you will be doing. A camera like the Olympus E1 is one of those cameras that is so good it will take amazing professional quality pics so no matter how many cameras come out it will still be relevant 5 years down the road because quality of that caliber does not necessarily become obsolete. You get what you pay for.
