Well, there is only 1400kms on our 2004 325IT.....It has the Steptronic5psd Automatic and the problem is happening mainly when it is cold. When you put the car in drive, and go to accelerate, the car almost feels like it is starting off in 3rd gear and is not engaging properly. It happens for a couple of seconds then it is fine and never happens when the car is warm.
I called Budds where we bought it from and it seems like we are not the only one with the same complaint. Nothing can be done right now, they are waiting for news from BMW Canada for a Service Bulliten (Recall). Anyone else having these problems?

My dad had to go to auto*no-no*

It's not comforting to know that the dealerships say "It is inherint with the transmission". I say there is something wrong and watch the transmission go just after powertrain warranty is up, lol.

Simple, do what I did when we had a Step E46 loaner. Drive it in manual mode and stay there. :D

It doesn't matter if it is in manual or automatic mode, it is the 1st gear in the morning when it is cold. I am really going to give it a rip soon, it is almost broken in.

E46's come alive when you push them hard. With the all seasons and softer non-SP suspension I'd take it a little easier, but they all have a very good feel in the corners. I just wish BMW put LSD's in them.

That makes no sense man. The money they'd lose on a trade-in of a brand new BMW would be a lot more than a full BMW-warrantied tranny swap down the road.

I have already cornered hard in it, and the car is amazingly tight. The E36 handled better, but this is much stiffer because it is newer.

Exactly. I just want to know if anyone on here has experienced the same problem.
Otherwise, my dad loves the car, Its got a lot of nice little features.

My favourite is the drug light. You know, the little amber LED's in the maplight cluster? :D
