Hello!
I'm new here and am looking for an M Coupe. I've always wanted one since it came out but back then i was in school. so now with my life kinda sorted out, i like to look into getting one. So far it's very difficult. Only one black one turned up in autotrader.ca
can you please give me some good m coupe resources like buying guides? what to look out for and such? thanks!

I would have a recommended BMW dealer source a car for you. It will cost you quite a bit but you should get a warrenty from them. Any e36 M3 buyers guild would be a good place to start as the drive trains are the same for 1999 and 2000 model M coupes. 2001 and 2002 M coupes have the e46 M3 drive train.

Watchout for cars that have been tracked.

Be patient,

welcome to maX*wave*

thanks. but i've already scoured 368s.com

are they any major diff amongst the model years? did they ever come with xenon?
so far i checked that there's no major recall for the m coupe (relief!).
thanks!

Hard to find.... get an S54 if you can afford it. Good luck with your search, it'll be lengthy.

Welcome to max.

BTW- If you're open to roadsters there are plenty for sale right now.

the chances of finding one that hasn't been tracked... :huh?: good luck.

sometimes tracking the car is not as bad as abusing the car on the public road during daily commute...

the M Coupe is built for some hardcore driving, so be ready for it.

thanks. i am not a fan for open top driving. i feel err... naked and exposed.
that's my thoughts as well alezone. it would be difficult especially the M Coupe is more of a track purposed car than even an M3.
so r u implying perhaps take a chance with this black one?

get a good trusted mechanic to check it out. There is very little to lose and it's the only game in town at the moment.

if you have the extra cash to push for new suspension parts go for it and make sure u get it checked by a good mechanic for any cracks, etc...

why does it require new suspension bits? what's wrong with the stock stuff? i'm planning to check out the black one soon. not like there's alot of choices.

from what i heard the car was tracked. So judging by that the suspension will be like grandma hehe j/k I would change it to coilovers anyways. Stock M Coupe ride height is too high for me.

well if a car is tracked, wouldn't it be safe to assume that the suspension bits have been replaced?
Any recommendation for a good bimmer mechanic shop? i'm not sure those bmw dealership mechs are up to it what with them servicing the regular bmw sedans instead.
just like i know the porsche dealership boys know nuts about air-cooled 911s as they service boxsters and water-clogged 911s. :D

I can vouch for Anthony. His car is a good car like producing ~ 300hp.

He's got Tubi exhaust, Hiop headers (nice), Porsche brakes, Schrick cams, Awesome ACS rims, Dinan 3.5" MAF, and a M50 intake manifold, KW coilovers, HID Lights.

Very good looking/ sounding, and I'm sure performing car.

Furthermore Anthony is a trustworth individual and to the best of my knowledge his car has not seen the track. If it has it's not beat up.

I like M coupe too but don't think I can afford one this year.. where do you lucky owners go to service then? I don't understand why if the car is tracked.. it is not good then?? isn't it a track car should be better maintained? what other the weak points? suspension?

thanks!

49k for a 1999 M coupe is a tad high. it's even more than the newer M Roadsters that has less kms!

Yes I agree. It's about 15K to high in my opinion. Still though, you won't find another one like Anthony's unless you go stateside. He's a reasonable person and I'm sure would be willing to deal.

He's got near the power of an S54 with none of the maitenance concerns of solid lifters and double vanos.

guy but look at that coupe. i think it is worth it for sure i mean just check how much those rims r worth alone and not to mention a tubi exhaust. omg if this car was maintained properly and all i wouldnt mind payin that much if i had the flow i mean its just a work of art.

actually i'd prefer a stockish car. kinda like a blank canvas. YMMV.

I just bought mine 2 months ago, I paid 39.9k and I think it is worth every penny !
Never had a car that people walking on the street looking at the car and arguing what kind of BMW it is. " Is it z3,mz3, a new m3, ? " well they had to go at the back of the car to see what it was ! Even there they just saw ///M
hehe :)
