I wanna know when usually ETA engines start to die?(what mileage) . I wanna know much life is left in my car. Pretty much the engine is solid it started on -38 (beggining this year even though the car was stored beside house on parking lot for at least 3 months. Right now The car has
285 000km. What do you guys think about mileage on these engines? I am assuming it has original mileage to me because the original owner had a car untill october 2001 (almost all her life) plus carfax showed no odometer rolled back.
How many clicks you have on your ETA and how much life is left in it besides maintaining it regularly.

If you take care of it you can see 500K-600K km!!! I got my first one with 320K and chose to scrap it at 418K because the body was rusty (still have the engine which was mint!)...

It all depends on the service history of the car, if it was abused....etc. Mine is at 218,000kms and I have replaced a lot and the car runs mint and I expect it too for a long time.

Yeah, i was VERY scared to buy such a "high" milage car when i was 17, but it turned out to be the most reliable car i have ever seen...and i had quite a few since!

The white one has about 196K right now, one of the reasons why i'm not in a rush to do the M50 swap!

I pulled my M20 2.7L eta out at 235,000 and slapped in the M50 2.5L "i". That engine ran so well! As long as you do your proper oil changes, water pump, timing belt, etc... it will go for ever.

i got 185,000kms on mine and its still going strong. as long as you do the regular maintenance it should last you a long time.

Hello ETA owners, I made a great chip for the ETA. If you are interested, email me at : mark@dsylva-tech.ca

(it's much better than a Dinan )

I have it running in about 20 ETA's at the moment as I developed it in 1997.

The special price for MaxBimmer members till April 9 is $200 beaver bux.

No, but I could do that price if I had 5 people for a group buy.

Right now that chip is $179 US ($236 CAN) and the price will be going to $199 USD ( $262 + GST ) soon.

P.S. did you look at the 325i Horst Kroll has for sale?

My eta has 408,000 Km. Pulls hard every time!

I work for Bimmer Motorsports and sell chips for BMW.

325i and 325e chips are 175.00 each, need 91 octane fuel.

Never actually heard they were from Germany, but people sell them cheap on eBay often. Here is a complete DME with chip for $80:

Or just a chip:

Yep, CAD.

I've sold many, no complaints yet.. I don't know if anyone on maxbimmer has one.

I trial them out though. I've swapped ECU's and given customers test drives.
