I dont know what is the problem, when i try to start the car when its cold i turn and turn about 10 second and after they start. when he is warm he stars the first time .

i change the fuel pump , the distributor, the spark plug but not the coil and the wirring, the air cleaner.

i would like to know what you think about that because im very upset with that???.

Possibly, cold start valve or cold start injector. Just a thought.

there is no cold start injector on the m20 engine its only on the 2.7 eta engines, cold start valve is a possibliity though.....

Mine definately has one.. Euro 320.. All L-Jetronic e30s i've seen have one also.

My car to never had this problem ever.

Maybe it has somthing to do with the ignition

You all think it could be a compression/leak problem? Mine does this useually it fires on the second or third try. A few times I've just quickly turned the key, instead of doing switch 1 then 2 I just go switch 2 and that has helpped a little. When its cold out it starts on the first turn; however, when its warm to hot it doesn't unless I've driven the car and it has sat for no more than 15-30mins with engine off.

one more thing do you all think it could be the ingition distributor, I mean it does supply the spark for the spark plug. I may be off in timming or it just worn out. You think?

This prolem is comment because i believe the m20 88-91 only have one (intank) fuel pump. The earlier m20's have a fuel transfer pump (out of tank) and usually don't have that problem.

I have a similar symtom on mine. When the weather is cold ie 5-10 celcius and below the car starts at the first cranck, But in summer when it sits under the sun it cranks and I pump gas constanly to fire. I've been told and suspecting it has something to do with my injectors. Which are loud anyways and lookling for replacements.

got a point johnoz, it may be time to replace injectors because of age and CO2 gases.

I have two fuel pumps an intank one and a main one. If I remimber correctly the intank one can fail and the main one will still allow the car to run; however, if the main goes well no start.

maybe you are not getting power to the 5th injector. I had that problem with my Jetta, and it wasn't a cold start vlave, it was a bad connection from my starter! Just a thought!

I AGREE WITH CHROMIUS IT SHOULD BE THE COLD START SENSOR
