192 hp
189 torque
has vanos
0-60 in 7.3 sec....

those are just a few specs off the top of my head....
i have a question too...

if you have a 325iS with the sport package and LSD diff...wouldnt it be a little quicker 0-60 or not enough of a difference to notice.

also..for those of you who have a 325 with 5 speed..have u noticed that in 5th gear the speedo and tach are exactly matched..

like if the speedo is reading 140(i think) its about 12o'clock and the tach is at 12o'clock as well.....

I though it was 189 HP? As for the LSD, it will only make a difference if you spin the tires on launch. If the launch is the same for both, will not affect the time.

And, yes in the 5-speed the speedo and tach seem to mve about the same (that I've noticed anyway). Makes sense since it's a 1:1 gear ratio.

i see what ur saying about the LSD and spinning the tires but what I meant is the LSD rear end has 3.15 gears in it and the non LSD have different rear gears 3.23 or something... some one correct me.... and if theres a big eough difference between the gears than wouldn't there also be a difference in acceleration and highway cruising(rpms)...

That's not true, they both have 3.15:1 diffs.

And yes, with a 3.15 the speedo and tach are pretty much the same in 5th (I know, i have one :P)

If that was the case the 325 without LSD would be faster (with a proper launch).

Actually, I think all the 325's are 3:15 (LSD or not). The Autos are different, and the M3 is 3:23 ... not sure about the 328.

Also, I though the 328 was 190hp (according to all sources I've read). Anyone have a definit answer? This is very important for SOLO I classification :)

328's are 2.91 for 5-speed
And yes, 190hp, 206ft-lbs for the 328.

But it's 189hp and 184ft-lbs for the 325.

i got the 192 hp out of the Performance BMW magazine...that is from Europe.....maybe it's different there or maybe they just have the wrong spec, cause I've heard 189 hp many times as well...

thanks for clearing up my gearing questions...

...so I assume that the 328 did not originally come with 3.15 LSD in it....

This is a topic of some debate ... apparently, the first 3 months of the 328, they did come with an LSD. There are two of them in Solo I right now. I was very surprised at this ... however, I don't know if they are 3:15 ... I would assume so, since they likely used the 325 part, and not the m3 part.

The 328 came with a 2.93 as previously stated, in 96 LSD was available, and it too was 2.93. Only the 96-99 M3 had the 3.23LSD.

Also, the 3.15LSD's in the 95 M3 and 92-95 325 are identical, minus the input flange (4 vs 6 bolts).
