Would stock headlights off an e34 (ellipsoids) fit on an e30?

I don't think so. Mounting points are different, only lens diameter is same...

so technically with some minor custom work i should be able to make it fit then...no? better than spending over 200$ on ellipsoids.. might as well pick up some off an old 5er for a lot less and do a bit of work to make it work, no?

It's more than just a little work. And what's wrong with finding old E30's? Any 88 or 89 will have the same ones.

yeah? if it was that easy i would do it, something tells me though it wont be as easy... i was perfectly happy with the hellas if they wouldnt have cracked.. now its either 80bucks for new h4 lows, or im hoping maybe i can find some used ellipsoids instead for around the same price maybe less

Not sure if you knew this, but Hellas are actually a lot better than US ellips. Buy them.

I think E34 had bigger lights and housing then E30..
i THINK FELIX.....has his E30 for sale so ask him if he wAnts to part his E30 1989 ellipsoids...

the lenses from any bmw (with ellips) will work its the housings that are different from each series, so if you have the lenses you just need e30 ellips buckets, btw i can get some e34 buckets and lenses :P

Dead serious, I've seen the pics to prove it. The ellips are better ONLY if you plan to go HID, because they have more defined cutoffs. But other than that, the H4's put more light out with halogens.
