hello again!
I know it is very old subject but I couldn't found any info despite I searched.

I want to make my ('87) metal bumpers sprayed. How can I do it my self? What kind of undercoat is required or is only a good spray is enough?
Thanks

when i tried to spray my metal bumpers it would not stick but you should just get a body kit because it looks better, just my opinion though.

I did it to my car once i started to get stone chips on it, it was game over. If you use a power washer, well you can guess what happens.

You would be better of getting a nice M-tech kit.

I see, it is not very easy. But I want to do myself. The undercoat layer is very important but I couldn't found enough information.
Bodykit is cool but I don't want to make my car radical, want to keep its origin. It has already specific "ix" plastic bodykit , and I added original M Technic I rear bumper. So I don't want to use any fiber bumper, also aftermarket plastic bumpers are expensive.
So what should I do?

M-tech kits are not expensive compared to other kits. In the U.K you can pick up the full kit for roughly 250. Or if you really don't want to spend money go to ascrapyard and pull something off another BM.

Don't paint them, it looks horrible.

i think you can do a bumper conversion to the later style e30 bumpers.. just get some off a scrapyard post-facelift e30 and with some work you should be able to fit them on

Does it??

Still much less expensive than a bumper change or a new kit.

To each his own. :)

And here's Blunt's car. The plastic bumper surrounds are also painted.

Doesn't look too bad on your car Al, you have any more pics? I really don't like Blunt's, the painted corners are hideous.

Hideous? Far from it, in my opinion.

I took that pic right after I bought my car and right before storing it. I'll be giving the car a proper photoshoot in the spring. I'll post more then.
