Hi,
I'm visiting from the e30 board...

What are the pros and cons of each of these cars?
It seems like the 328i and is lost value much quicker than the 325is...is there a reason?
What is standard on 1995 325is versus 1996 328i or is?
Which is more reliable?
Cheaper to maintain?
Which offers better performance?

Anyone know any sites for newbies for these cars? I have a friend looking to buy a 1996 328i, 4door, m package, leather, mags, standard, 150000km, inspected for 13500$CDN...is this worth it? Paint in good shape...he hasn't looked underneath yet.

Thanks!

i have a 328is and I LOVE it... no problems... and its FAST!

faster than 325is... and you got the nice M52 engine... m3 97-99 parts fit onto it!

oh and mustang 5.0's ... mustang gt 98's ... no biggie to beat .. its fun and STOCK..

I thought about this long and hard before I bought my 328.

- Basically the 328 is faster out of the box.
- It's easier to find a 328 with low milage.
- with a few mods you can be faster then an M3
- it only has 1hp more then the 325, but 22ft-lbs more, all low end.

My only real complaint is that there are 4 oxygen sensors, and they're not cheap to replace when they go. Luckily they don't go often. I think the 325 only has one oxygen sensor.

A 98 stang GT didnt come with a 302 5.0...95 was the last year.96 and on came with the 281 4.6.

Reliable- 325
Maintain- 325
Performance- 328, but 300 bucks on a TMS chip will fix that in a hurry. OBD I is also far easier to tune for custom set ups, less electric gimmicks.
Not to say the M52 isn't a great lump, the 325 is just easier to deal with.
