Had a friend over on bimmerforums do the conversion.

Yeah, most alpines don't have amber illumination. Only a select few, like 1 or 2 every model year.

You have to open up the head unit face, cut out the green leds, and solder on amber leds.

cda-7876, cda-7894. There are a few others. Some new alpine units have adjustable colors.
