Start with the basics to help your car breathe better......intake,headers and exhaust.

What do u have to start with ...

$1000 -> $6000??

Headers
INtake
Exhaust
Cams
ECU (Best bang for the buck)
FLy wheel
Fan Delete Mod
Forced Induction (BIG MONEY)
Port/Polish/Bore (BIG MONEY)

u choose..

best bang for the buck is a lower (numberically higher) geared differential with limited slip. It makes a huge difference.

Aside from that, intake, exhaust, fan delete, flywheel, etc.
I don't think a chip is the best bang for the buck. Unless you car has a lot of engine mods, don't put it high on your list.

Click here for Fan Delete information (http://www.ohiomotorcycle.com/understeer/fanclutchmod.shtml)

Yes, headers are the exhaust manifolds.

And yes you can do these on an automatic, but you best bet for performance now would be to swap ina 5 or 6 speed. :)

right, 5 or 6 speed manual, I didn't know the 325 has a 5 speed auto.

What does your gear selector look like?

This?:

P
N
D
3
2
1

Just curious?

hmm it might have a 5spd auto in europe... here the m3 was the only e36 to receive a 5spd auto...

I'm only curious because my mom's 525iA feels like it has 5 gears but it's only 4. In one of the gears you feel the torque converter lock up which makes it feel like an extra gear.

definately get a chip for your car, and an exhaust. Those two mods alone made my other e36 (which is auto) feel much faster, especially off the line. Intakes however made my car feel slower, or at least have a lot less torque (which is so precious with an auto tranny)

djcontra... that's interesting. put in my intake last week... ram air. sounds really nice, but I also feel like there is less torque...

could it possible be that it is sucking to much air in thru a big filter or hot air from the engine bay ? i have noticed alot of performance cars here in the uk just get uprated panel filters thin air recomended not to get a chip till i done a few more mods
