View Full Version : another drive to london: TransAm and a Subaru WRX

i was going today once again to london and on the 403 i ended up behind on of those pontiac transams or firebirds don't really know which one. anyway i knew he was just gonna kick my ass but anyways it was fun. i didn't ask for a race the guy just took off infront of me like 4 or 5 times and i just followed but no chance hehe. he was like 4 5 cars ahead easily.

then i got on the 401 and was driving with cruise control at 130 maybe and see this blue new subaru wrx coming from behind, being that i thought those were turbocharged i wasn't in a mood to race after the trans am but the guy stops right beside me and looks at me and is like let's go. at first i was like nooo but then i said ok. went back to 4th gear and took off i thought he was gonna fly by me but nothing happend i was maybe 2 3 cars ahead around 180 and slowed down. he came beside me and gave me a thumb up and said lets go again so this time he took off first i was still in 5th so back to 4th and i caught him again and passed him. and then we just drove for a bit doing 180 behind each other.

the subaru was brand new i think or at least that latest model with all the wings and sideskirts the come stock on them and had a aftermarket exhaust. the bagde just said WRX i coludn't read te small letters. so i guess they are not all turbocharged are they??

on the way back it was raining so no racing there... until next time

Nice kill dude! And all WRX's have turbocharged 2.0L flat 4's. Here is a pic of a WRX sport wagon at Mosport during the last lapping day.

First off, small displacement Jap cars (except the RX-7) suck at going fast on the highway.... Especially if they're AWD. The friction loss in the drivetrain is rediculous... they ususally dyno around 158wHP compared to their 240 crank HP rating... the wheel HP is the only thing that counts.

I think that's a sweet ride. I like it a lot (aswell as the new Benz hatchback) but there seems to be a lot of contraversy regarding those cars??

P.S. when I said "small displacement" I meant anything under 2.5L.

it was one of those yes only not the wagon it was like this one here only had a spoiler on the trunk as well.

i just looked around at car-stats.com and for the wrx it says 5.4 sec 0-60 and the 1/4 mile was 14.1

but there is also another one a 2.5RS which is way slower 7.8 0-60 and around 16.1 sec for 1/4 mile anyway it was fun :)
