Are you gonna lower your car?? because its gonna look weird with a huge gap and your car is gonna be really high.
Which rims you decided to get??

Depending on the quality of rims you get (therefore determining weight...), the ride will now suck compared to before...

Unsprung weight = murders the ride. Bigger wheels = need bigger brakes = even more unsprung weight = shoddy ass ride.

Poor comparison but on the jeep going from my 35 muds to my 33 streets I feel like I'm going from a tractor to an M3. This is a 15lb difference on each corner I think... Could be a little more. Your increase in weight will likely be 3-10lbs per corner depending on how much green you spend and what rim you buy.

you'll notice the car will handle slightly better; a more positive feeling. Bumps in the road will be a little more noticable, but it all depends on the tires & suspension too. One thing you'll definately feel is a slight lack of acceleration because of the added weight, but you'll get used to it pretty quickly.

well, Contra used the "more descriptive" version, if you're looking for a DD dubs are not the way to go...

They kill the ride, and by the way, since when do RIMS improve handling when you go bigger than 17"? If I run 20" rims and 1" tires will I handle better than a dude running 17s and 2" tires? I don't think so...

morningcruiser: you can disagree, but when I swap my 15" bottlecaps for 18x8.5" rims, my car definately handles a lot better.
I dont get that bouncy/skipping feeling as my 15" tires buckle under hard turns.

I know exxxxactly what your talking bout! On my 15z it feels like my tire is gonna rip right off the rim on some hard turns. Plus it's bouncy. With my 19z with my 35 series rubber it's a whole different story. My handling is WAY better with them on. But the only negative thing bout it is that they weigh more!!!

If you mean in a sideways slide type situation then yes, you're right they will allow your car to handle better, but if you run 17s with smaller rubber you have the best of both worlds, decent weight and no huge sidewall issues.

Personally that's what I'd do, just change my speedo gear, lower the car and run smaller tires on 17s. Regardless of that, it's purely what you want in your car. Oh, and most guys who road/track their car hard generally speaking run track wheels/tires because of this same reason...

I'm getting Privat Schnell's, the chrome ones. How much acceleration will I loose? Also I wasn't planning on lowering the car do you think it will look stupid if I don't.

Chrome rims really add some weight to your car, so you 'will' notice a bogging feeling off the line, but like I said earlier, you'll get used to it very quickly. I think you should lower your car, especially with 18's. If money is an issue, just buy some lowering springs for now, they're about $300 to $400
The upside of having chrome rims, is it attracts all the girlz *th-up*

You can lower your car for $200, and you can also lower your car for $4000. It all matters what you want to put on your car, and the quality of the products you are selecting.

You can pick up a set of nice FK (or is it KW?) coilovers for $1200 (Canadian). They are a German brand. Good quality stuff.

If you dont wanna pay for the coilovers, just go for a spring/shock combo.
