Is the 524td crank a direct replacment for the 325i crank? You could simply interchange them with no problems. Also if you put in the 524td crank in would that make it a 2.8 liter?

Yep, sure. You shouldn't have to mill the block or anything, unless you go with a bigger crank than the TD. Should be a direct fit. I would lighten and balance the whole assembly if you do go this route. Are you the guy who modified the mossleman setup? How's the car running? I know you have done a lot of work on it. How much boost are your running? What kind of problems have you run into(running an aftermarket ECU, water injection, boost retard sytem, etc). Just curious about what's been going on. Remember you from the Roadfly Board.

Thanks for the answer. Yeah thats me. The car is running good right know im running 14 psi with no problems. Im in the process of starting to take it apart, to build it up for 300+whp with forged internals, and t-60 turbo. With it running 14psi its still the stock ECU, but with all the other things i have in it the water injection, MSD 6btm boost retard, it seems fine. I never got it tuned the way it is so im there was more i could of gotten out of it. When im finished rebuilding this time around im going to install a S-AFC, and dyno tune it.

Has anyone here put the 524td crank in a 325i without any other changes? Because i posted on a couple different boards, and some say it will fit, and some say it won't.

so does it make it a 2.8? because i cant tell if your saying it will fit or it will make it a 2.8 or both.

the 524 td crank is only special b/c it is FORGED like the M3 cranks .. they are forged for heavy load.... it does not increase your motor from a 2.5 to a 2.8.... the E motors are 2.7.. anyways... if you want a turbo diesel crank, I have one and would sell it for the right amount...

By putting a 524td crank into a 325i, how much would it raise the compression, or would it change. Thats exactly the reason i want it because its forged, i wouldn't care it if increased my displacement. Its just i already ordered a set of JE 8.2:1 compression pistons, and i don't want the compression to be any higher then that.
