Hey Guys;

Just ordered an AA SC kit for my z3... should be here in about 2 weeks. Karl from AA is going to do a custom tune for my car since I also have M3 cams and the M50 intake manifold (currently the JC cam kit, complete with JC software - around 210 RWHp).

Should be fun... my entrance into the FI world... FYI AA is having a 10% sale right now on all their products, kits, etc...

Best regards,

Yes, that's right around 210-215 at the wheels (probably a bit more since the Z3 has a lot less drivetrain loss compared to the 3er's)... (http://www.sharked.com/pdfs/28cams.pdf). Havn't dynoed mine yet, but I will before the SC install. Basically in the 3.2Ltr US M3 territory. I'm going to keep the cams and the manifold. The supercharger on a stock SC is rated 320 hp at the crank. With this setup I should see a lot more torque (due to the cams) and perhas some more top-end hp due to the manifold.

I'm looking at doing my exhaust and headers before the SC since then I can get the software specifically tunned to this final setup. I'm looking forward to it, has been and will be a fun project!

:)

Well with all this power, how bout some control, whatta you plan on doing with brakes (brembro 4pot 14" HINT HINT), and suspension maybe (nice fully dampening coilover system, or slap some 20" chromes and throw some HYDROS on her, for a PIMPIN sleeper!) And what kinda rims ya planin on gettin, c'mon, fill us in!

SOLDOMATIC 325i, I have rims already :) 19" Breyton Imagines (SO3 tires 275s and 245s) for <b>show</b>; along with my lighter weight OEM 17"s for <b>go</b>...

I'm just in the process of getting the suspension setup in order. RD Sway bars (already shipped), GC suspension. Brake wise, I'll be installing the M3 front brakes (calipers, spindles, carriers and zimmerman rotors) probably this coming weekend (if I can pick them up this week from the seller and if the weather permits me to get my car out of storage).

My basic goal is to get the car fully done up in the next two months as to be ready for the summer :) I'll be doing most of this work myself along with bill (z3 97 2.8 - from this board) and chris.

The todo list contains:

- SC install
- Exhaust install
- Suspension/Brakes install
- LTW flywheel install

Thats awesome, i just realized you had the rims written in your sig!
What M3 brakes are you using, E36 or E46 ones?
your car is gonna be one of the baddest Z's i've ever seen, and it shouldn't be too hard to install it yourself, since its all pretty much just straight bolt on!
Anyhow, just a heads up, the RD sways, dunno from experience, but i have heard nothing but BAD things for these bars, not sure why, just compeared to other sways, there at the bottom of the list!

Thanks for the comments SOLDOMATIC 325i regarding the sways... I'll look into it, but from what i've heard it was the opposite in case of the Zee... I'll research that none-the-less.

Thanks,

T.

I'm impressed, I'm still following in your N/A mods, but the blower will be nuts. You should look into a 6-speed tranny, for more top end. See how fast you can go before the soft-top flies off.

I wonder if that 3.91 will be too low for use with the blower, you might not hook up in the first couple gears.

I can't wait to see your car in the spring at a meet sometime.

1 more week... then it should be on its way...

... btw, I picked up the M3 brakes, callipers, spindles, brand new zimmerman M3 rotors, SS lines, Hawk HPS pads and the turner 'shorty' headers this week :) Should be a fun weekend.

SC starting this afternoon!!!

Tom, front bumper is off, we're hoping to get the prep work done so when you arrive with the SC we can start on installing the hard items, the the aquamist.

See you tonight!

Bill

Alright!

Got the kit started :)

The Bracket, head unit, oil kit and vacuum lines redirect have been already installed. remaining items include the intercooler, piping, injectors and taking her out for a spin ;)

Should have most of it wrapped up tonight...

So far the only issue that I've encountered was the bracket bolt being too short. Will need to source one myself :( Otherwise everything else is top notch and absolutely amazing!

Well, they sent us the wrong kit. Luckily the E36 and Z3 are pretty close under the hood.
Not wonder the charge pipes and oil feed didn't make any sense......
Almost done.

Who's doing the install for you?

Once you got that work done, let's get her to Cayuga and see what she can really do! *th-up*

JazzM

Chris, Bill and myself have been working on this install...

... we also did headers and a M3 brake conversion around the same time.

T.

JazzM
02-18-2004, 02:13 PM
Bill, from the illustrations that they provided, the e36 oil feed is different from the one that they sent, so I think they got that one right... It should be mounted around the dip stick. There's a bracket under the manifold that can be used to secure it. That's where it was based on the pictures of MZ3's that I've seen with this kit.

The charge pipes are definately wrong, but Chris and I managed to get those to fit on Saturday morning/early afternoon. They also sent the powersteering relocation kit which does not fit on my car at all :)

Thanks,

T.

Just out of curiosity, what headers are you running? sorry if you mentioned it already.

JazzM
02-18-2004, 03:28 PM
I'm running the Turner Motorsport headers:

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=EVO.BEH601

They bolt right up without any modifications to piping, etc. (no welding required e.g. supersprint, etc.). They are also cerami-coated and have smooth equal length runners.

Best regards,

Wow... this thing is fast! It just pulls like a bat out of hell and doesn't want to stop... only to run out of RPMs...

I'm very pleased with the car, it turned out to be quite amazing. Exhaust is going to be installed next week and then all that's left is the suspension! I'll post some pictures later on during the week...

Nice setup, did AA charge you extra for the custom software and did you have to send your CPU to them and how long till you had it back?

thanks,

James

No extra charge for the software... AA includes any custom tunning that may be required in the package :)
