That was at the Toronto Star press building show. I'm not sure if I had registered by then, maybe just lurking. I'm not sure I can place your dad but I should remember because there usually isn't that much interest in my car. Not sure if you remember the M535i that was parked near my car but that guy's ride is smoking hot. Only 4 BMWs at that show, mine, the 5, a 635 and an Isetta. Small world for sure.

Yep, I remember all the BMW's..Dad and I weren't expecting any BMW's so we certainly took interest in the few that were there! but my Dad also has a 87 535i, so he loved that M535i. very nice ride for sure. *th-up*

That's me in the goofie hat, used to protect my bald melon from harmful UV! The car actually doesn't look too bad.

Check these pictures of some of our '02 group members. The green one is a factory Alpina 1502 with 2L motor and twin weber 45 DCOE carbs. Limited slip dif etc. Will leave two black stripes when clutch is dumped. The other side draft pic is from my buddy's factory Ti also upgraded to webers.

Can't wait to get back on the road this summer. My '02 is faster than my new Jetta now that I've replaced the single Solex with the Alpina setup. Sounds a lot better now, less tractor like.

I have no idea about the tii. But the normal 2002's use the 1.5L 4Cyl M10 motors which are very famous motors for BMW. They were used in older model E30 318's, 2002, etc and even in the Formula 1 cars which produced 1200HP (still can't get over that), just amazing.

Actually all 2002's came with 2.0l motors which is the M10 and was derived from the early 1.5l. The tii is the same engine more or less but with mechanical fuel injection. Later the 320i and the E30 318 came with the 1.8l engine . The heads are interchangable on all these engines and you can actually get more power by putting an early head on a 320i for example.

Some nice cars in this thread. I'm driving an '83 320i, 5 speed, delphina gray, suspension techiniques springs, bilsteins, ansa exhaust, header. It's a little rough in some aspects, prolly needs a paintjob, small holes in both fenders. When I actually have some money it'll get the TLC it needs. This is my Dad's 320i since I don't have a pic of mine on the comp. Behind it is his winter car, an '88 325is. My mom drives a '95 318ti which really wants a super charger.

BMW Autohaus on steeles has a Porsche slant nose up for sale in the basement. Color is sort of gross though.

2002 are even sweeter when you build them into M2's............. 2002 body with the E30 M3 S14 motor. Then you have some "giddy-up" to look out for.

Thanks! If it is on the road by then, I would definately love to join you guys.

It's a '73 Euro. It's got a '78 528i engine, tranny and l-jet.

But, I'm planning a M30 3.5 and manual tranny swap in the near future. That's why I've got my eyes open for a suitable 535 parts car :)

Here's a link to last year's trek to Marcus' shop.

http://members.rogers.com/photosjm2/02gathering2003.htm

He just finished tuning my tii. When i was there 2 weeks ago he was wrapping up
the transplant of a complete E28 driveline into a 2800CS. It looked like a factory-install.

John, I've set the goal of finally finishing my ride this year.
...do you believe me?

Finally got that K-Pump working? Really interested to hear/see you car now that the mechanicals have been sorted by Marcus.

Hope you can make it out for the vintage weekend at Mosport.

jim s
04-11-2004, 02:13 AM
John:

Fuel delivery is now solid. But the engine has not been broken in yet

...3 of 4 cylinders/rings have seated. #4 is a low compared to 1, 2, 3.
Compression check on #4 when the engine is hot, is a closer.

Marcus is not concerned. He says to just run it for awhile and bring it back in for
further testing. I might try his dyno.

I would like to come out for the Vintage Mosport day.
