well here's one of my runs at the strip... My E36 328is manual

im stock so far but i did launch at 4000 RPM for this one after warming the tires up..... THERE WAS NO WHEEL SPIN!

also check out R/T (reaction time) ... its .595 seconds... which means if i would have launched at 0 or .1 seconds i would have hit 14.9 seconds!!

what do yall launch at?

pm WASABI ...he has sheet with shift points/launch points for 328 i think he hit a high 14 this summer..stock

isnt a .0 or .1 launch time humanly impossible?

Like in the 100m dash, there's a certain reaction time that they count as a false start cuz human's cant possible react that fast.

LUCK can do it... or going on the 3rd yellow... and by the time you start youre on green... whats a typical good reaction time

Jon@Bimmersport

isnt .5 the average?

If it is .... then wow.... this was my first time at the track.... BMW says 15.0 ... i do 15.3... hmmm i could improve.... i also took on an RSX Type-S and we were so close it was tied... and smoked an Eclipse which was moderately souped up.

Jon@Bimmersport

tied? the RSX-S driver cant drive then...200hp, lighter, better gearing..mkgino has intake and exhaust and he still lost to rolled out

.500 is the MINIMUM. Less than that is a false.

I launch at 2200-2400 in opitimum conditions, but adjust for tempature accordingly. It the ground isn't dry I probably won't have anything on the tach at launch.

well we raced 3 times... 1st one he beat me ... 2nd I beat him pretty bad... and 3rd he won by .06 of a sec .... 4 inches??

thats wierd... i launched at 4000 ... but this is on a drag race track. after 10 seconds of burnout.... I had no spin at all...

you go t excatly the same what i have (see my sig) i kept all my slips from that time we went to the track but when i moved i must have thrown them all out.

but i think my reaction time was also somewhere around .6 sec or so http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=48416#post48416

but i dont think ur gonna be able to go under 15 just stock, but then again u never know

14's ??? it wasn't me ! I think it's possible though, specially if you can control the wheel spin.

That sheet, I found it on the net, it was just a dyno chart of a stock 328iS, didn't even use it.

A 0.500s reaction time is the best reaction time you can get. I think it has something to do with the time it takes from the last yellow to the green light. Btw, the reaction time does not affect the 1/4 mile time, I thought that at first too.

Those Acura RSXs have some power, I was coming from the AMC 24 in Southlake one day and was waiting on the light to turn green. The light turn green on the perpendicular side and a Silver RSX, in the left turning lane, took off. I don't know if it was stock but it went through the left turn pretty flat and the acceleration was smooth, but could have been auto *thmbsdwn*.

oh yeah I usually launch at 3000+/-rpm, any higher and the car feels like it might take flight. 318 too...

I ran a 14.7, but I had a 3.15 diff, an exhaust, and the fan delete at the time. Reaction time does not factor into your time. You could sit there for 5 seconds and still have a 15 second 1/4 mile run. I also found out that burning out my tires made no difference, it almost made me slip more. I also launched between 3000-4000rpm.

You did pretty good for your first time *th-up*

i mistaked u for Al. sorry..

msanity...lost a few ponies? a few ponies..more like 1 or 2...if anything, and that doesnt even make a difference, he woulda gained it back and then some with his AA exhaust and his intake...

man, wtf! every time I read a damn rsx-s vs 328 thread, the 328 always comes out on top. ROLLED_OUT had mods or something, I know he did!

i wanna see wat the E30 can run...my kill list so far is:

blue RX-8 30km roll
Yellow type-r slammed to the ground..off the line i took him..(he couldnt drive for shit)
Red 325iS (mystikal..twice)
Silver 325 auto (koncise)

you're kidding, right? i was ahead of both of you guys the whole time. Actually, I dont think it was even that close... I know I hit the next red light first , why would u have slowed down before it? It wasnt that far ahead of us.

Jon@Bimmersport
01-25-2004, 03:39 PM
cuz i had no traction...if i didnt let off..car woulda gone full 90 degrees...mystikal saw my E30's ass right beside him when i hit 2nd gear...oh well maybe u did win...BUT..i did beat Jay..thats all that counts :D cuz supposedly his new chip makes his car faster than my chipped car (his is custom for his car..mine i just swapped it for w/e randy had lying around)

plus, u had it easy...u got auto...as soon as the E30 hits 2nd gear (strongest) its a struggle to keep it straight..on those conditions that is...

koncise
01-25-2004, 03:42 PM
I know.. that was gonna be my next point. The reason I won is cuz you guys were spinning your wheels like mad. And my brake stand was juuusssst right :D

And then I think I just barely edged Jay again on that 2nd run on the way back... but it was very close. He should have video of that one :)

i know, i saw u guys running...i didnt wanan go to fast cuz cold roads arent very good when u got all seasons...that arent very good lol...that time u went through the amber and we had to wait..we did like 150 trying to catch up to u! i was like ****, cuz my headlights/fog lights need to be aimed..i just kept the highbeams on so i can see... E30 lighting SUCKS!

wat RPM did u let off the brakes at? i launched at a 1500rpm both times..it worked good cuz i instantly got traction, then lost it at 4000rpm at M20's start of the torque curve

koncise
01-25-2004, 04:01 PM
To be honest, I'm not sure... I just hold the brakes as much as I can, and then push the gas... I didnt look where it was when I let off the brake...I dont think it's over 2000 RPM though.

I also put the car in "1" until it gets to like 4-5000 RPM, then I put in in "3" :)

i didnt hit 14's on the track.

the 14 was with the g-tech thingy so who knows how accurate it was

Jon@Bimmersport
01-25-2004, 05:49 PM
oh my god, forget it. thats it...no 328 driver hit 14s then! so how can rsx-s which HAS hit high 14s not beat a 328 in the 1/4mile? after 328 might pull but...we're talkin 1/4mile here.

Mystikal
01-25-2004, 05:54 PM
Jon, I'm not even gonna read the shit you were arguing with Mike. The fact is none of us had anything but wheelspin under 60km/h and the person who won just metered the throttle better.

Jon, my car is faster. Get over it.

Jon@Bimmersport
01-25-2004, 06:00 PM
your car IS faster...esp when its in a snow bank  hahahah

Mystikal
01-25-2004, 06:02 PM
And your car is faster as it's PUSHED BY THREE OF US over a km to my house.

damn right, 3 brown man power..it felt like i had nitrous when i started goin...i wonder if we coulda drifted it too if i pulled the e brake :D

01-25-2004, 06:15 PM
LOL...u can always go back and tell the guy u dont need it anymore...i cant stop laughin bout last nite..esp after he came out..he saw us with the E46 then almost fell carrying the box LOL

I launch my E30 at 3,500-4,000 rpm.. spins a little.. then hooks up and flys down the track doing a GROUND SHAKING, HAIR RAISING 16.56

The rsx type s isn't all that
i smoked one on the highway during the summer in my brothers celica

i launch from 2500rpm, road and track says they got their best times in the m3 from that engine spd. according to their data sheet
plus i find if you launch at any more than that ill just spin the tires through all of 1st and most of 2nd gear...it feels amazing when you do spin for that long but its not effective at all

328is_Perf
01-26-2004, 09:48 PM
well on the strip theres more traction... i would normally slip on 2500 rpm.. on the track 4000 rpm didnt even slip.. it was a cool feeling .. head smashes up against the head rest...
