The G500 you are looking at is being sold for 550 at vistek or henrys. I don't know much about minolta's, but I would pick them instead of kodak, at least for digital. If youre budget is bigger, or your deal is really good, take a look at the a1, seems like a real winner......... or you can just get a sony f7x7, love that cam!
Whiskey
i'd take the CANON S400:)
oh wait... i have that :D

I saw the specs for that minolta, pretty good camera, and if its as cheap as whiskey says, I don't think you can go wrong.
F series Sony cameras are OK, I don't like the fact that their ISO rating doesnt go any lower than 100, and shutter speed can only go up to 1/1000th/second.

Minolta... Period!
the fit and finish of the consumer end Kodaks don't seem to be as good as their rivals..
pick up a canon or a minolta in the same price range as the Kodak Easy share digi's and you'll see what i mean. the Kodaks seem to be a little bigger in size and the build quality isn't as good, IMO.

I have the Dimage 7i and Xi and happy with both of them, i still need to find out how to use the Dimage 7i, very fancy camera... but hardly used due to its size... they are a bit pricy compared to others, but very good quality. i think they are the only ones built in japan
