My bad, he's got the 7998.

Great deck none the less....

...but nothing touches that Alpine F1 deck you posted.

$4800.00... holy price BATMAN! What's so special about that deck? It doesn't even play MP3 or have a motorized face. Must be that "Optical Digital Output". I thought I got their top-of-the-line deck assuming any non-MP3 would be less.... guess not.

I think Bimmersport (Charlie) has the Alpine 7990 ..

I just bought an Alpine 7893 for $200 bucks ! In mint condition ! came with box and manual.

Wat so good about alpine decks. Never own one b4. why is alpine decks soo expensive? Is a brand name lke Nike wat about thier sound quality??

Zimmie... i hear ya man.

I used to swear by Kenwood Excelon line up... I even had the bad-ass KDC-815 deck in my E30 and thought it was the shizzle. I went ahead and bought this cheap (bottom of the line) Alpine CDA-9807 for my winter beater and DUDE! The sound quality is incredible. I can't stree enough how much of a difference the deck made from a mid-range Kenwood to a bottom-line Alpine within a 5min install. I did some more poking around and learned that any serious audiophile that competes in IASCA & EMMA seem to all use Alpine head units.

nice deck... but I cant really see it working well with a BMW interior.

same goes for ROB's 7893, great deck, but not for my car.
If I was going for clarity, I'd rock a nakamichi headunit over an Alpine, but you can't beat Alpines features + quality on a dollar to dollar basis.

A few of the Alpine decks have dual colour displays.
I've seen a few that switch between Green and Orange (the latter is perfect for a BMW).

When I was shopping over the summer, I found a few Alpine models that had it.

CDA-9827 for example has a dual colour display, but not sure what colours.

I made a mistake... i meant to say $270.00. It was just over $310 with tax at 2001AudioVideo. It was on sale couple months back... now it's back to regular price $350.00 (I was there yesterday buying my DigiCam and DVDrecorder). Sorry.

SebSter
12-30-2003, 05:57 PM
damn that would be allright too, but for 350 it might be a bit out of my range, are there any other places that carry alpine decks in the gta? 2001 audio video was the only one i could find

That's a sweet-ass deck.*th-up* My friend has the CDA-9815 in his Miata and that's what convinced me to convert from Kenwood to Alpine. Totally recommend any of Alpine's latest products (best MP3 technology out there so far - 1sec space between songs).

I just installed my cda7893 alpine today.. I am totally amazed at how clean this deck is !!! It has a built internal amp...60x4.
It made my JBL 5.25 coaxials sound totally amazing now... Really good/clean midbass. I am getting a zapco AG750 tomorrow , so I will be in the market for a good 8" sub, maybe boston acoustic, Kicker L7, or JLW7..ETC.
Also I might be getting a Zapco AG350 soon as well for the highs, and Focal 3 way components for the front...

Any recommendations on a high end 8" sub ?

try going through this thread... (http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25466&highlight=brahma)

and I dont think that is a proper sub enclosure. It should be ported.

Well who cares if that deck sounds good ! Most people use external amps anyways...
I still dont know why it is so expensive either...

Jon@Bimmersport
01-06-2004, 04:09 AM
maybe because everything later on will be converted to optical? optical ins for amps? i dont know. guess when ppl want the best sound (sound competitions) they will do what they need to get it.

EMPOWERD
01-06-2004, 04:12 AM
yeah, optical.... my $150 Panasonic DVD player has OPTICAL output, is that a reason for Alpine to charge $4000.00 more than the next best model?

Well actually eclipse and the High end Denon are the best decks on the market , currently for competitors.

This table (http://www.emmanet.com/Reports/statsfinals02.htm) will give you an indication of what people are using (brand-wise) in the World Championships competing in IASCA & EMMA.

P.S. Take note of the TOTAL column.

Yes I know...but the problem with Denon + eclipse is that there arent that many distributors out there and are relativly expensive.
Most competitors concentrate on their amps, subs, componets, and proper installation. Really expensive decks usually arent on a "High" priority list for competitors, especially SPL.

Actually the Alpine F1 is regarded as the cream of the crop, but I can't imagine an Alpine out-doing an MacIntosh deck or the Nak deck I put up earlier.

I wouldn't touch McIntosh decks... pure over-rated. A good head unit should consist of the latest/best technology out there, not old world pride and prestige. If you were in the market for a Hybrid car, would you look at the Toyota Prius or go the the Jaguar/Bentley dealership?

Denon & Nak.... awsome if you don't like all the bells and whistles.

I know:(

Bells & Whistles (such as MP3 capability, remote, tilt, removable face) = Alpine

Sound quality, looks & exclusivity = Denon & Nakamichi

In the middel would be Eclipse's new models which play MP3's

Can the average person tell the difference between an Alpine and a Denon? I have no idea
