OK heres my idea. My dad has a '92 318is and his A/C is blown and will cost $1200 to fix. I own a '94 325i. My idea is to have him sell his M42 engine (prolly won't get much) and then take the engine from my 325i and put it in the 318 and then buy a 3.2 liter M50 and put that into my car. This would solve his AC problem and his lack of power and would help my lack of power (well to me its lacking :D ). Anyways, does anyone have any idea how much this would cost? I don't think that my dad and I have enough expirence to do it ourselves so we'd need a shop to do it. BTW the engine in my 325i has over 200k Miles but it is still very strong and was well taken care of.

hmmm why don't you give him your 325 and swap m3 engine in 318?

Well that would make sense, but the interior to his 318 is falling apart and I hate the tan color of his interior. Plus I have a black leather interior, better sound system, electrical seats and I like the convience of 4 doors. Thats why I'd rather keep the 325i :)

i got quote from mantis racing in oakville was around 3000 bucks labour that would be around 1900 USD .... Canadian don't work cheap ..lol .. they recomend me to find a bimmer that already has the perticular engine that i was looking for. in your case would be double .... i think it's cheaper and worth while to sell your dad's and buy another one or fix the aircond. ....
