View Full Version : Finally done with mY M3 Cam swap in 328is. ~

09-03-2003, 02:45 AM
Just finish M3 cam swap with superchips reprogram and 24lb injector.. after all the troubles
i havent dyno my car yet.. but the engine is very loud after 4000 rpm and i can feel the car running faster~.. that is a nice mod to do..
I dont how to explain my opinion well . heh..

09-03-2003, 02:51 AM
how much did this all cost you?

09-03-2003, 12:44 PM
What year is your 328iS? OBDII? I'd like some info on the superchips, like cost and where you got it done. thanks.

My car is 96 328is OBD2
the cost:
USED 99 M3 Cam 300 US
Installation From Europe Motor BMW 522 Canadian
24Lbs Inj. Bought From Somepeople in Bimmer Forum 150 US
Superchips. I did in in Pit Stop . it locate at Young/Steel. Cost 650 Canadian. It is Custom Program that Made By A UK company. U can tell what u need, and they will custom the Program for you and use laptop to reprogram to OBD2 Computer.

Do they re-program at no extra charge if you add more mods to the car?

09-04-2003, 05:21 PM
Very nice! Can't wait to see the dyno charts when you get some.
I'm guessing the installation was expensive because they upgraded to beefier valve retainer springs too eh? Those things can get pricey because you have to buy so many.

i didn't know Superchip does custom reprogramming for the M3 cams setup. My car dynoed 220rwhp without custom programming and 24lb injectors, i ran the setup with shark injector and 95 M3 cams, you should expect more from your setup. Keep us posted! enjoy..

I've got a set of S52 cams arriving in the next day or two.
1. Do I not need the programming to run safely?
2. How about the 24lb injectors?

I'm curious what you have done to you car (M52_Alpina). I'm in the process of building a NA M52 myself.

Same questions as Bill, since we are doing the same mods in parallel.

09-11-2003, 04:24 AM
acutally u dont need to reprogram to run safely.. but after reprogram u will get more hp and engine will run smooth..
for 24lb injector... if u dont find a right software.. ur check engine light will on for running too rich... but.. engine will still running smooth and strong..

09-11-2003, 04:28 AM
but i maybe change my injector to 19 lb or 21 lb later.. coz i think without Euro HFM .. 24lb will still be rich with software some how.. or maybe i will get a Euro/540 HFM and aswell do the M50 manifold.. hehe but this plan maybe for next summer..

09-11-2003, 04:28 AM
i still dont have time to do the dyno >_<

09-11-2003, 01:50 PM
Peter, Bill already has the M50 manifold, and I'M doing it soon. The BMW tech who will do my cams suggested I got a fuel pressure regulator to avoid running too lean. What'S your take on this?

09-11-2003, 04:19 PM
i dont think it need a fuel regulator coz the factor one is good enough.... just get a 21 or 24 injector with re-program ur ECU.. will be good enough to match the fuel mixture..

09-11-2003, 04:21 PM
oh btw.. where did ur guys get the m50 kit? and how much is total?

09-11-2003, 05:24 PM
Will reprogram the ECU next year. What are our stock injectors, BTW? I thought they were 21 pounds?

We didn't get the M50 «kit». Eurosport wants 1000$US for a kit of adapters and software. Bill used a write-up from the net to rig the vaccuum lines on the M50 intake, which he got at around 200$ right in Ontario.

Right now, it's m50 intake + S52 cams + fan delete + eventually pulleys for me. No injectors, no ECU fiddlin'.

09-11-2003, 07:05 PM
stock is 17 or 17.5 lb for M52..

09-11-2003, 07:25 PM
check ur pm hugo...

btw. my car have Fan delete, s52cam, UUC pulleys, UUC flywheel, injector and software so far.. .Need a M50 intake manifold >_<

09-12-2003, 12:32 PM
I replied... check yours too!

09-20-2003, 10:52 PM
196 rwhp at 6200rpm with M3 Cam (with Software) + fan deleted (no suprise *sad* ) + 24lbs Injector ( tech said running way too rich that lost maybe 5-10hp from here.. need to get 19lbs or 21lbs injector original is 17lbs) and Temp: 69F

before is 183 rwhp 5500rpm with CAI , Cat Back, ECU

09-20-2003, 10:53 PM
AFR ... way way too rich..... see before and after........:huh?:

Peter1998, what are the chances of you taking me for a spin sometime in your car at a BMW meet. I'd like to feel how your car pulls.

I'm also slowly working to do the same mods you have, with maybe the exception of the M3 cams. I'd consider an M3 engine swap instead. All the parts I've bought so far will swap to the M52B32. I dunno, either M3 swap or OBD-1 conversion with cams.

So far I have the UUC pullies and flywheel (not installed), fan delete, intake, exhaust, and a diff.

Would i be able to put M52 cams into an M50?!
Without problems!?
Also, nice gains with the ECU, EXHAUST, AND CAI alone!
Verry impressive!

09-23-2003, 02:01 AM
M52 cam into M50 is useless... it wont give u any gain but loss,. the degree of M52 cam is 228/228 .. M50 cam is higher i think.. but u can put S50 cam in M50 engine i heard.

09-23-2003, 03:52 AM
sorry, my appologies, i MEANT to say is S52 cams into an M50 engine?!
