I did a search but nothing came up that helped me so I'm gonna go ahead and ask....

How the hell do you remove the steering wheel from an early model E36? I couldnt even get started, I didn't know what to use and where to put it :P

I'm gonna post some pics of my wheel and hopefully someone can explain to me (in a very detailed manner) how to remove the wheel.... so much stress just to replace a couple bulbs in the dash!

U don't need to remove the steering wheel to relace the cluster bulbs, cluster easily slides between the dash and the wheel at a certain position, just play aroud with it. If it doesnt' work use the following prosidure for removal of the steering wheel
1. Disconnect the battery (if you have and air bag)
2. The airbag is attached by two torx bolts at the back T25
3. Losen the bolts and remove the airbag
4. I belive the wheel is held by a 16mm nut, remove it and mark the posion the wheel for easier isntallation.
Reverse the sequence for install have fun
:D

Thanks man... I think #2 from your instructions was the biggest help.

I tried getting the cluster out before without removing the wheel and I couldnt do it. Maybe I didnt try hard enough, I dunno... but I also dont have tilt steering, so that may be an issue.

Thanks again.

Yeah, I found that thread... your directions were a little vague to me :)

What helps most is that I know its a T25 torx now
