hi, do you guys notice premium gasoline from SUNOCO seems to have a better km/L than premium gasoline from SHELL?

I got 11.7km/L using SUNOCO's. 13.6km/L using SHELL. A big difference. I don't know if it is because my engine is still breaking in though.

How did you gauge this? There are so many variables. No offence but I don't think you are qualified to make a statement like that. How many tanks did you go through to average it out?

thats true
everything can change the how many kilometres you can go.
even wind has to be taken into consideration (sp)
also the way you drive can effect the fuel economy

if your engine is still breaking in then the fuel economy will get better.

Buddy there is no way you cam make that statement .
Unless your testing environment is the exact same . DID YOU COUNT HOW MANY LIGHT YOU STOPPED ON EACH TEST AND HOW LONG YOU STOPPED FOR . Just this will make that diff . I personally dont fuel at either and work for a fuel company so I know that your statement is not true .

ONLY 1 thing to say
"Drinking 94 is the only way to GO"

I agree, I use Ultra 94 90% of the time. Whenever I use another brand my gas milage is not as good. Im talking over 100,000km here as well, on many different cars.

Heres the truth...........
SHELL BLOWS DICK!!!!
I have filled 94 in my tank since the day i got it, and for some odd reason decided to change to shell, and it ended up FUKIN up my FUEL GUAGE, so i happily switched back to sunocco, and NO problems!

You may have filled it too much.. Did it go back to normal after some driving?

i use to do sunoco 94 and then switch to shell 91 now. I get about 480-520 per full tank with my 99 m3. I do a lot of highway driving.

hi, it was just my observation so I didn't intend to make it a statement. I admit I can be totally wrong. Are you a fan of Shell? :D

I get these L/100km from the dashboard display. I reset it everytime I fill it up. And my driving style and places I go are exactly the same, I almost only use the car going to and from work. For the few (maybe 3) times I filled the tank with Shell gasoline, I consistently got 13.6-13.8L/100km. But the last two times I filled the tank with SUNOCO's, the reading dropped significantly to 11.6L/100km. In my opinion this difference, even may not be 100%, should be responsible by SUNOCO's gas.

well hold on, doesn't higher octane mess around with your compression, thus resulting in SLIGHT more/less power?!

No, I do actually notice the biggest difference with sunoco 94 in my sea-doo, smoother accl and higher top speeds consistently. As for fuel economy, I don't know.

No it doesn't, the octane rating of fuel determines how fast or slow the fuel burns.

You really should not get :( with your engine just because of that. You can't compare yours with mine directly 'cos our driving location and style are different, like the others pointed out earlier.

The ENERGUIDE 2003 says, a 325Ci is supposed to be 11.6L/100km for city driving. Their test condition is:

"Simulated City course: The city ratings on the EnerGuide label and in the Guide are based on a 12km drive of 22 mintes with 16 complete stops. The average speed of the test is 32km/h."

Believe it or not, this condition matches with my route going to and from work very very much. So I have been expecting to get ~11.6. But unable to until I filled the tank with SUNOCO 94. *th-up*
