I'm pretty sure I've got it down on what to do.

Use a blow dryer and heat up the 328i thing.

Then use dental floss to get it off.

My question is, I heard there will be gunk left over. Some say to use something called "Goop gone" or something. Then some say don't.

If I don't use it, how do I get the left over stuff off?

Just use a bug and tar remover, it will get the adhesive left over off quickly.
I took mine off a month ago, and it took me about 5min and there is absolutely no evidence that the badge used to be there.

Use goo gone is fine !
after removing the adhesive then use wax to wax that area

take it off!
I took it to a body shop and I think they use paint thinner . that will do a good job and should not harm the painted surface . That is what he used and it came off like a charm . Good luck.

Ok, im bringing this thread back to life...
everyone talks about their own way of debadging... how did YOU exactly do it, and did it come off well?

My debadging procedure:
1. Use blow dryer to soften double sided tape
2. Then dental floss to cut through the tape
3. Isopropyl alcohol to remove the leftover adhesive
4. Apply silicone wax

I didn't even heat up the badge. I just started "flossing" behind the badge, and my friend followed me and sort of just kept pulling it up after i had flossed it. We got it off in one piece no problems, very easy. As for the left over "goo" just use a product you can get at canadian tire or walmart called GOO GONE it works great. After you use the goo gone just wax the spot and you're done. Took me a total of about 5 mins to do!

No, but it's just the last stage of the cleanup. You'll eventually wax it anyway so you don't need to do it right after.

do you guys think its a good idea to remove the bmw roundel on the trunk? is it just double sided tape like the numbers? is it flat underneith or is it indented somewhat?

There's an indent in the trunk for the roundel so it'll look crappy without it.

I just tore mine off with my hands.
I scrubbed it with some rubbing alcohol, and all the glue is gone.
no evidence a badge was ever on there.

also about the trunk roundel... I had mine stolen. It's indented under it and has 2 holes. I had an old roundel which was all cracked up... I sanded it smooth and painted it black and stuck it on as a temporary to cover up the holes.......... surprisingly it actually looks pretty good, very clean looking.. and even had people compliment on it. (weird).

I'll still put an actual roundel on.. but if you prefer the clean look, that's a cheap solution that looks pretty good.
