ok guys i have a 92 325i and last night i was coming home with my girlfriend. I had made a left turn and I heared a bang \ing sound from the rear of my car. I thought it was my trunk not properly closed. so i cheacked and it was. on my way home i heared it again. the sounds only come when i excelerate. If i start the car off slowly it doesn't make it ,but when a excelerate it gose bang. i think it's the dif or shafts. What do you guys think. also cost of fixing would be great *mumble*

'92 E36's have weak diff mounts. The situation you described sounds like that. I would suggest you get it towed to your trusted mechanic ASAP.

Good luck,
Dave

might also be your driveshaft weight or hanger bearing...

if it is the diff mounts what do i have to do to fix the problem. i think it is the drive shaft on the passenger side because the banging only comes from the right rear.:(

Check that the subframe isn't broken as well.

now my question to you guys is what kits are on thw market to renfoce those points on the subframe. I have to take the diff and shafts out etc. what upgrades would be good to do at this point that i have all this stuff out. help me out guys because i'm starting to get pissed off with *uzi* BMW'S

There's a rienforcement kit available at the dealer, and it's for the e36 cabrio's. The kit itself doesn't cost very much, under $100 if I remember correctly, but it's the labour costs that will kill you :(

I was lucky that my mechanic was able to do it for VERY cheap (under $500), but he said he'd never do it again because it was a pain!
